Dave McNamara was the first player in VFL history to kick 7 goals?

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

OWTS, No, but you are very close.

In this match Billy Schmidt and the legendary Dave McNamara BOTH bagged 7 goals.
This was the first ever instance of two teammates scoring 7 or more goals each in the same game.

This was only the 3rd and 4th instances of a StKilda player scoring 7 or more goals.
It happened in a StK win at the Junction Oval against Melbourne.
The Saints won all 4 quarters and ran out winners by 10 goals, 17.13 115 to 8.7 55

Over to you ...

OK..I'm here so I'll chuck in a quick one...

The 1995 Ansett Cup game v Carlton was seen as the start of the Saints rise to power in that era..we knocked off Carlton after giving them 48 points start with a couple of young'uns in Smith and Jones starring..

Which Saints legend was in the Ch 7 commentary box that night trying very unsuccessfully to stay impartial??

At the 1996 Ansett Cup GF, Shane Warne was there with another Victorian Cricketer. Who was it? Who did Warney dismiss that day?

'Pistol' Paul Reiffel it was... a Richmond fan as a matter of fact.

I'll always remember that catch he put down in the 1999 Semi Final against South Africa on the boundary rope.

Yes, it was Pistol. Warney dismissed Allan Border after lunch that day also.

Your go HSV.

Before our improvement of 8 positions on the ladder from 2002-2003 (11th-3rd) we had only achieved this feat once before.

Which years were they to and from, and what positions?

In round 19 1988, Robert Harvey and Brett Bowey both played their first game for the Saints. They were named in the two forward pockets.

Who was named at Full Forward?
