All this anti-Vic bile is so boring when you realise it comes from jealousy. Get over it.
how would you like it if turned around and said cause the first teams were geelong and melb the vics will be plaing in blue and white hoops with a red collar and navey blue shorts ??
its not that we are pissed cause the vics get to play its the fact we have our team reprisented by a marketing tool in a jumper that holds no history or emotion for anyone .

Anyway, the Crows, Power & Freo joined the AFL, Casey now play in the VFL. It's a national competition now!!!!!

Here's a suggestion.Winmarvellous wrote:To alleviate this, why not have the Vics play in a white jumper with a black V. Would we be seeing a bit of a Vic backlash then. I thought so. But, if this game is not about the jumper, why not?
Let all the Dream Team members wera their 'state jumpers' and it will be a game of Vics v any other jumper.
Problem solved if the jumper is truly the problem?
So...instead of lambasting people for their opinion...how would you organise the game then?sax wrote:riccardo wrote:The statistics are clear, there are more Victorians in the AFL than from any other state, we started football and you joined the VFL, remember.

i like the idea of get rid of the vic jumper get rid of the dream team concept just get the fans to pick one team from a list of say 50 players (via sms hence grabing more $$$$ so the AFL will love it ) and the other team selected by the AFL then play the game at the mcg in two compleatly new jumperssaint66au wrote:So...instead of lambasting people for their opinion...how would you organise the game then?sax wrote:riccardo wrote:The statistics are clear, there are more Victorians in the AFL than from any other state, we started football and you joined the VFL, remember.

The only reason that interstaters hate the concept is because they know that they're gonna get owned,
and it will prove once and for all that Victorian Football is still the best!
hehehe.
I like the idea, havent' seen the guernsey's yet, but yes they're important.
I also think that this will happen once every year, but they would never say that until after the actual game.
The good thing about playing just 1 game year on year is that less chance of injury than an entire state competition.
Lets face it....... Victoria vs the rest is an obvious break up in my opinion, because we already lump the interstate team in teh interstate basket.
I was in wa in early 90's when eagles go their flags. And I remember people back then going, I hope you lose next week in the grandfinal. And i'm like my team isn't playing you idiot.
and they're like but you're a bloody victorian arent' you? and I'm like yeah I am and I barrack for the Saints and dont' give a rats about anyone else.
The irony was that up until this point I was going to be going for the Eagles.
It wasn't the victorians that created the victorian vs interstate, it came from outside (because of jealousy).
Anyway I can't wait for this to happen, and I hope the vics smash those interstate wannabes!!!!
bring it on!

The irony of all the crap that Graham Cornes has been spruking since this was announced is that he was born and raised in Ararat. The last time I looked at a map, Ararat was in Victoria. Cornes wouldn't want to let this fact get in the way of a good story !!Mr Magic wrote:Have you been listening to KG and Cornesy too much?sax wrote:You Vics are all the same, seriously!!!
The other teams didn't join the VFL, they joined the AFL, & if they didn't, the VFL would've gone broke!
Well, we are dufus. Judd, Ablett, Harvey, Del, J brown, Lloyd, Lucas, Last Years Brownlow medallist, Mooney, Hall, Lappin, West, Johnston, Bruce, N Brown, Everitt as back up, the list goes on. That Sa list is nothing compared to Vic.sax wrote:Who gave Victoria the right to think they're the best footballing state anyway???

This match will prove it. I can't wait.
I don't know what the other states are complaining about - the US plays Europe in the Ryder Cup, and then they take on the whole world in the President's Cup.
It makes for the biggest and best to take on the rest.
Once and for all, Victorian supremacy will be proven.

Is that why it took a Victorian team 7 years to win another flag? Coz they're supreme?

It's more to do with the 2 SA teams / WA teams being majority homegrown players whereas the Victorian talent seems to be divided up between all 16 teams.sax wrote:n1ck wrote:evertonfc wrote:Top 25 Victorians > Top 25 rest of Australia.

It would be interesting to know what the state breakup was of the 3peat Lions team?

Why couldn't we have conferances, say East vs West, or North vs South, something like that.
Vic, Tas, NSW, ACT (East) vs SA, WA, NT, QLD (West)
Just so you know mate, can only put up a reply when I'm on a computer. We don't all sit on our arses all day!

sax, you miss the point......it's Victoria, far and away the best state for producing footy talent vs. the rest.
Making it two conferences would only work if Victoria was like other states re productive footballer output!!!
Remember, the Vics have an unfair advantage:
(1) Superior population
(2) The birthplace of football!

geez, i think you need to get over it sax
if you really think about it, what they're doing is the only realistic option
if you play Vic v SA, then WA will kick up a stink
if you play Vic v WA, then SA will kick up a stink
Tas, NT, NSW and Qld all don't have enough players to form a competative team on their own
they don't have enough time in the year to play more than 1 State of Origin game, and the clubs wouldn't allow it anyway
so stop sooking
and if this whole thread was 'fishing' like you said, i think you should stop getting so worked up

All posters are equal, but some posters are more equal than others.
I think the format is brilliant!
and is obviously getting us all excited without us even meaning to be, hehehe. Hey Sax!!!
I also think that this will be done every year, when it is declared that it was a massive hit. The AFL will remained tight lipped about their intentions, but mark my words it will be back year after year. Especially now the international rules series is dead.
Will be bigger than the state of origin for league, this thing will be huge and declared bigger than Anzac day clashes.
