Wow, tough man for the KPP to impress. Taller players take longer even when their bodies look ready. Keep in mind that a players like Hawkins (or McEvoy... or especially a Dawson Simpson) will have gotten used to having a size advantage which dissapears in the AFL/VFL. Young talls are often still growing into their bodies as well - regardless of how they look.nathan000 wrote:alot depends on the type of player you are talking about. like you said armitage is still a bit skinny and doesn't look quiet ready for afl footy just yet, so you need to give him a couple more years to develop, same will probably go for players like mcevoy etc. where as if you look at a player like tom hawkins from geelong, he is a big boy, and has the frame for afl football already, if he doesn't show much next year, i wouldn't hold onto him for much longer if i were the geelong board.
Whether or not Hawkins can crack the team in '08 Geelong would be insane to let him go. He will crack the team within the next 2 seasons, and he will be an excellent players.
