This game will capture the imagination of the football public, and those who talk it down will be missing out on a great celebration of the greatest game on earth.

Quit the cynicism, and enjoy the fact that the 50 best players (remember, 50% of the top 50 would be Victorian) our code has will get to face off.

It's only a once-off, why the hell wouldn't you get behind it?
I'll make a call too..the final lineups will be NOTHING like the Top 50 players in the country..nothing like it. Easy for the Clubs to get behind it now..its only November. Just wait til about Round 3

The only way you will get the absolute cream of the crop on the park for this game is to threaten the teams that if their players dont play when selected, they miss the following weeks H&A game
You might get 2-3 players who might be having second thoughts, but if they want to miss out on such an event, let them.

I reckon this will be the type of game you'd kill to tell your grandkids you were a part of.

Dont get me wrong..I was at the G in 89 the day Plugger and Piggy roamed the forward line and we destroyed SA by heaps. Fabulous day...full house..but part of another era now I reckon.

Graham Cornes has come out and slammed the concept as an insult to non-Vic football...but how the hell else was it going to work??

Theres only room in the schedule for one game..thats a no-brainer. You cant play Interstate footy pre-season..this isnt 1964 any more. So that Mothers Day weekend is the only window for it to happen. The other no-brainer is that Victoria have to play. So..who against? Play against just one state? That will get all the other states noses out of joint and rightly so. The "dream team" concept was the only solution.

SOO works in NSW and Qld because the public care about it, probably more than Club footy..they also have the handy 2-state rivalry. AFL fans care about their team getting four points..nothing more and nothing less.

I know Im probably a selfish fan with no vision of the big picture...but I dont want to be telling my grandkids that I was there the day Riewoldt and Kosi tore hammys in an exhibition game, missed 4 weeks each and cost us matches that actually MATTER.

I'll save my Interstate rivalry for the next time we play Freo, thanks all the same.

I'm comfortable with that

So...if a Lenny or a Roo or a Dal injures themselves seriously in this game, you are comfortable with that??

If so, and it does happen, please report to Saints reception at 9am on Monday 12th May. I reckon whoever is on there will happily give up the seat to you to answer what calls make it through the smouldering embers of our switchboard :-)

It's a risk I'm willing to take.

Some things are bigger than our club, S66AU - this match should be taken out of the AFL/VFL/WAFL/SANFL/QAFL/NSWAFL etc context and be viewed as this:

The 50 best players of our beloved game go head-to-head at the home of football to celebrate 150 years of our great game.

Giving our blokes up for 120 minutes? I can live with that.

This game is a joke like to see how many players happen to do an injury during training ect.

This would of been better to be played as part of the pre season warm up to the real deal some how with all states involved.

I will watch it but i wont outlay money to go and see it i think.

We have enough injuries when the game has 4 points to win, why risk it for nothing but a AFL concept game, just wont happen if any of our players have a slight niggle IMO.

Id love to go.

I loved everything about SoO. I miss it.

The passion, the emotion, the rivalries. The best players.

That day Teddy was driven around the MCG in 1995... one of the greatest days in the history of football.

Watching a forward line of Plugger, Ablett, Dunstall, Brereton and Loewe? Fantastic.

How about a midfield of Judd, Hodge, Dal Santo, Ablett?!

Come on.
