I grew up in Seaford and lived near Frankston for nearly 20 years, so know the area quite well, but leaving the personal stuff aside, buzfromschlongbong
Is it a crime for wanting the St.Kilda football club to be located in St.Kilda?
I would bet that anyone from the current board or previous admin did nothing in terms of actually investigating the logistics of designing a state of the art facility from the ground up in St.Kilda in consultation with the State Gov and Local Council and that the only options looked into involved already existing infrastructure ie:- Junction Oval, Teac Oval etc...
IMHO, I see no better marketing opportunity than our club actually being located in our true spritual home in St.Kilda
IMHO, it would also be an enormous influence in attracting players to the St.Kilda Football Club with a state of the art facility in a more centralized location and closer to our home ground at the Dome
St.Kilda the suburb is the single most marketable suburb in Victoria and one of the most marketable suburbs in Australia
If the State Government are committed to spending an absolute fortune on the Whitten Oval in Footscray, why not a State of the Art training facility in St.Kilda near the Albert Park Lake
IMHO a well drafted and thoroughly investigated proposal submitted to the State Government might have had a chance of being accepted and with the Government behind such a scheme, this might have been a possibility
Was this even considered?
IMHO, I believe that the only things investigated were already existing facade's with already existing infrastructure
All we the members ever hear or are ever told is diddly squat
The true vision for this football club would be for it to once again embrace the place from which this football club gets it's very name
BIZARRE concept, hey?
As weird as it may seem to you Barks, the vast majority of St Kilda supporters hold nothing sacred about the suburb of St Kilda - they see it just as I have described it in previous posts - bland, overpriced, pretentious and full of tools.
Why would our club/their club want to alienate them but putting itself in an area where it recieves very little, if any, actual FINANCIAL support and where its REAL FINANCIAL supporters would rarely venture?
Just because its called St Kilda? - whats in a friggin name? why not move to Scotland then?
St Kilda FC's heartland is with families in the southern suburbs not with yuppies living some 'secret life of us' fantasy in over-priced art deco appartments.
This whole attract players thing is crap - we draft players by my reckoning and we have a pretty good success rate in keeping them too.
Do players refuse to play for Geelong because of their locality?
This crap that your spouting is about nothing other than your holier than thou disdain for the REAL people who actually keep this club afloat.
"They dare to live in places where they can afford the housing - how tacky" "they dont even write songs for gawdsake...like how suburban man!" - I'm sorry about getting personal here mate but if you cant see how much of a tool you are being over our wonderful "homeland", and how embarrassing it is, then I'm doing you a service by pointing it out..
It's time to pull ur bottle blond head out of your bum and realise that St Kilda is a meaningless suburb to all but a handful of boring bloated knobs (yourself well and truly included).
The fact that we have been welcomed with open arms by the city of Frankston means much to many and will ensure our clubs longevity - Anyone who thinks our future should be battling it out amongst the parma ham and latte set is seriously deluded and seriously a tool.
When I want smoked trout mousse at $53.00 a kg I'll go to St Kilda - when I want to watch the mighty saints train I'll head south to Franga and thank God for that!
St Kilda suburban relevence - pfftt!!![/quot
So if you really want to go back lets go back ........to where it all started...
