Night Match at Casey Fields - 5 April 2008 (tentative date)
The lighting at Casey Fields is being upgraded from 50 lux to 240 lux in the next few weeks.
While the VFL fixture for 2008 hasn't been released yet, it's likely that there will be a Saturday night match there on 5 April - Casey Scorpions v Frankston.
We play the night before v the Bulldogs at the Dome.
Not sure if there'll be others scheduled - draw should be out within the next fortnight.

Saintbrat where do you live?? games are usually done by 5:30ish! 2 and a half hours away!!
Re. Saintspremiers, in seriousness, no doubt they will need extra security, I would say extra lighting in the car park would be a must, we usually have 2 police patrolling the grouind, maybe 2 more? not sure how you would keep a check on the car park, maybe every 15 minutes or so head out and have a look.

along way away iceman- they have made great reasons to stay overnight after saints games and then spend the sat or sunday or the morning drive was pleasant But staying two nights not an necesarily an option ( need to do the house work sometime ) and I was bad enough being tired travelling on a late sunday afternoon.iceman wrote:Saintbrat where do you live?? games are usually done by 5:30ish! 2 and a half hours away!!

oh well If it works for Casey and the saints good, the players would get much needed night practice.

About 30 young players - mostly ex-TAC. Very few senior players there, as it was all about telling the potential players what playing with a VFL team is like, what to expect pre-season, the advantages of Casey etc.saintbrat wrote:

Announced that a coach had been secured (with AFL/VFL coaching experience), and will be named early this week when all the aperwork has been signed.

unless he has a clause in his contract that says he can resign after less than 1 mths if a more high profile position comes along.
although I would think not

Casey
I was at the info night and the couple of kids i took were dissapointed that there were no senior players there. What type of enviroment are they trying to sell to the tac players when there was no senior players to at least say hello and really sell the club to these young blokes.
I thought that it was very poor and the info that was delivered was indecisive and had a sense of uncertainly. I had heard that the club had a great spirit amongst the playing group but given that no senior players made a effort to go i reckon is a poor reflection on the people who are running the club. I have also heard that the players have still not been paid. Is that true Casey Scorp?

Re: Casey
I've also heard that said before by someone involved in one of the local leagues, and that it was a longstanding issue. I put it down at the time to malicious gossip (not originating from the person I know) caused by some issue to do with a club/clubs being stripped of premiership points for having played a registered Scorpions player.jezza wrote:I have also heard that the players have still not been paid. I'm not part of the Scorps admin (just a supporter over the past few years since the alignment with the Saints, and a member since the move to Casey) so I can't be sure, but I'd make the observation that the players wouldn't keep coming back each year if they weren't paid. This year is obviously different in that a number of players won't be returning (Makepeace, Harrison & Carmody), but it seems that there are other reasons for those decisions.
I've also heard that the arrangements with most players are that they get paid in a lump sum (or a couple of large payments rather than on the drip feed match by match).
I guess if you're not a player, or not in admin, it's a bit hard to know with certainty what the actual situation is. In that situation rumours start as people with various agendas make claims or statements.
Casey
Hey Casey Scorp no i am not in admin but watch the scorps play as well as the saints and the Gipp Power. We hear a bit down at the power because of the mates thing. The young casey players are mostly students and they have not been paid which i know players who need the cash to survive as they go to uni.
Why would i send my young bloke to casey when this happens.I WAS STILL DISSAPOINTED THAT THERE WERE NO SENIOR PLAYERS AT THE INFO NIGHT. Perhaps there are no senior blokes left.

Re: Casey
If you've got a young bloke playing with the Power then you're much closer to such claims than I would be. But it does depend on what the arrangements were with them when they signed up (notwithstanding, I agree, that students always need some ready cash).jezza wrote:Hey Casey Scorp no i am not in admin but watch the scorps play as well as the saints and the Gipp Power. There was at least one there, because he was part of the presentation. I agree that it would have been good to have them all there, but don't forget that pre-season hasn't even started yet and I guess they're all focussing on other things - including exams if most of them are students.jezza wrote: I WAS STILL DISSAPOINTED THAT THERE WERE NO SENIOR PLAYERS AT THE INFO NIGHT.

Well you may be right, but I guess we'll know when pre-season starts (on Monday week I think it is)jezza wrote:Perhaps there are no senior blokes left.
