The Anti-(PS)Draft...a.k.a. The Frosty McGough Award
It seems like every de-listed player from another club and even some we've delisted ourselves are brought up in their own thread. Along the lines of "How about....?"
I think we should start listing these proposed re-treads and give a brief description of why they should NOT be pulling on a Saints jumper in 2008.
This is my new campaign: "Say 'No' to hacks!"
e.g.: Guy Richards (Hgt, Wgt, 2007 stats) Delisted from Collingwood, following a season where Josh Fraser limped through to the finals with no heir apparent, their ruck stocks so poor that they make St Kilda look like they have a young John Nicholls and Dean Cox sitting on their list. Rated that highly that Collingwood were willing to give up a first round draft pick for Cameron Wood and delist their only viable back up. St Kilda have enough GOR and do not need another so please use a spot on our list to invest some time in a 17 or 18 year old KPP/Ruckma in the National Draft rather than re-draft someone deemed not good enough to back up Josh Fraser and Cameron Wood.

Lol, yea that's pretty true, I was looking through it last night and the only players of quality that have ever come out of it are players like Shane O'Bree, Brett Voss, Nick Stevens and Joel Smith. You'd be very unlikely to improve your team noticeably by picking up a player in the PSD.HarveysDeciple wrote:It seems to be like that Chaser's song where they say people become better blokes when they die.
Players become better just because they have been delisted

i think all clubs can be accused of that.TimeToShineFellas wrote:Correct weight ..... hence why St Kilda supporters would be accused of being the biggest bunch of "hero-worshippers" in the league.Dan Warna wrote:players seem to get better in the opinions of saints fans when the put on the guernsey.
then again we all have our favourite players, so i see nothing wrong with it as long as its kept reasonable.

Agreed Choppa but a hell of a lot are. Attard was one were the Lions had too many of a similar player.Choppa wrote:In some cases, clubs delist players because they have to many of a certain type of player, and they want to make space to recruit for other positions. Therefore, being delisted is not always because the player is a hack
Powell I believe was in contract dispute, a 2 or 3 year issue, which is another reason.
I guess the purpose of this was to try to sort the wheat from the chafe(?) and pray we did not get stuck with the chafe. I believe there will be a few worth a gamble of a PSD selection or our last National Pick, players such as Collard (pending a psych test), Dunn, Howat and possibly any other first or second year player who has been chopped.
As we are prone to do and there is nothing wrong with it as we are 'supporters', whoever we get deserves our full support and encouragement when they are wearing the Red, White and Black and go into battle for us. Having said that, when they are only wearing training tops we have every right to debate their Pros and Cons in making our 22.
IMO names like Spandex, Richards, Sampi, Watts, McQ, Brooks are really behind the 8 ball as delisted players and trying to find the good graces of the St Kilda supporters.
