Rumours rife at Moorabbin - secret talks held
From Rosanne Michie's column in the Herald Sun today:
"Rumours rife at Moorabbin: Saints secret talks"
Get set for more intrigue at St Kilda. While the focus of the sporting world was squarely on Flemington this week, Saints powerbrokers were meeting behind closed doors in secret talks.
Influential supporter Lindsay Fox was one of the Saints heavyweights seen at Linton St on Thursday.
Our source predicts some interesting changes.
"There are lots of things afoot. Tell your readers they will be the first to know", our snout said. "Watch this space".

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

Any guesses?
- Lindsay is going to fund the construction of the new Fox Elite Training Facility, to be constructed for the Saints in an unspecified location
- Lindsay has been the conduit for a major sponsorship deal involving a company that he has a contract with through LinFox trucking
- He has funded the removal of the Kingston Council and there are now no objections to the redevelopment of Linton St
Any other thoughts/ideas?

Grant Thomas will be revealed as the brains behind the FF ticket and will sack Ross Lyon and take over as coach again, with Lindsay Fox as assistant and fitness manager.
Rod Butterss will be re-employed as water boy and dogsbody for GT.

Hope Fox is NOT involved at St.Kilda! Unlike RB & Pratt he certainly didn't put his hands in his pocket to help club previously. If he really loved the Club would have got on board as sponsor years ago - to my knowledge he's never even sponsored a player & we never hear mention of him attending club functions & games.

Who's Rosanne Michie ?From Rosanne Michie's column in the Herald Sun today:
I've never heard of her.
Does she have any football credentials ?
Does she have any credentials ?
Is she someone worth taking note of ?
Or just a hack trying to boost her ego or fill in print space ?

He attends games, and he has sponsored the club in the past.
Can't question his love of the club and those he played with - I believe two years ago he flew the whole 1960 team to Hawaii for a week?
Like Pratt at Carlton, IMO you must involve your influential supporters with the club. No use having them isolated on the outer.

Interesting
BOTH Westaway and N.Burke strongly denied any involvement of FOX
when interviewed......????
And on at least a number of ocassions.
Fox for many years between his St.K presidency and now had more than a interest with Carlton......via the Carltonians.
I think his love of the club was questioned at a point in time............he was a backer of the very financial group at bluebags.
Seemed to swing back our way a bit after Elliott gone............

Regular writer for the Herald Sun since 2004, and she must have some good contacts at St Kilda, because looking through her column history on the HS website she has had regular stories on gossip and rumours from the Saints.
Thanks to Google for that info .....

in the 1980s lindsay, as president, played a major role in stopping the club from going under financially.
on field his presidency wasn't a good time for us, but, under his direction, the club survived. great st kilda man.
wonder what is going on down there. are we relocating to casey? is gt going to be involved again in some official capacity? interesting times

Especially whilst Archie Fraser, good friend of Jim Watts (backer of the new board), is CEO.
And Archie has been doing a superb job recently IMO - I hope we can keep him.

Makes perfect sense to me to have a tennis writer speculating on closed door discussions at a footy club.
Perhaps she was friends with Fraser's former tennis interest giving her unprecented access to our inner sanctum.

only ask because fox is a big fan of gt and seems to have quite some influence with the new board. but i agree, it probably won't happen. i just threw that one in to get a few people going.Oh When the Saints wrote:Won't happen.bigcarl wrote: is gt going to be involved again in some official capacity?

my guess is that this has something to do with possible relocation to casey ... but that's only an uninformed guess

In fairness, she has been a journo for the Hun for the past three years, and is a regular Melbourne society reporter, so she would have some decent contacts.Enrico_Misso wrote:Makes perfect sense to me to have a tennis writer speculating on closed door discussions at a footy club.

a lot of these wealthy guys give to charities ... such as carlton ... doesn't mean his heart isn't at st kilda.
i remember reading somewhere that kevin sheedy buys a membership to every club every year ... that's because he supports football.
