Not sure whether it's been mentioned before, but I've heard a whisper we've been looking at him. Don't know much more than that unfortunately.
Hasn't played much footy of late, but was rated pretty highly as a kid - drafted to WCE at pick 6. Obviously injuries would be a concern, but for a late pick, may be worthwhile for a 23yo with good skills.
Thoughts?

Heard recently on SEN that he has told manager/WCE that he is over his depression and wants to begin his career again in Melbourne.
Been living in Broome with his family whom have suggested he relocate to ignite his career.
Personally...I just dont see that spark in him that so many do. I dont see the consistency, I dont see the potential and most of all I dont see the talent.
Yet im not an expert on Sampi...Moving into the midfield is a must, and I have rarely seen him in there. There isnt room for specialist small forwards in this day and age.

I'd be dissapointed if we collected a bunch of over the hill hacks, third rate springvale players and duds who move straight into the St KIlda wing of the epworth.ben_fff wrote:Because we more than likely are as are the other 14 clubs in the league, I'd be pretty dissapointed if we didn't look at the players that get delisted.riccardo wrote:WHY WHY WHY?

Agreed, Dan, we did that in the '80's, it wasn't exactly what you'd call a success.Dan Warna wrote:I'd be dissapointed if we collected a bunch of over the hill hacks, third rate springvale players and duds who move straight into the St KIlda wing of the epworth.ben_fff wrote:Because we more than likely are as are the other 14 clubs in the league, I'd be pretty dissapointed if we didn't look at the players that get delisted.riccardo wrote:WHY WHY WHY?

We should develop our own, thats what Geelong did *smacks self on head for praising Geelong*
its one thing to get a young gun in, its ok to take a punt on a kid with potential.riccardo wrote:Agreed, Dan, we did that in the '80's, it wasn't exactly what you'd call a success.Dan Warna wrote:I'd be dissapointed if we collected a bunch of over the hill hacks, third rate springvale players and duds who move straight into the St KIlda wing of the epworth.ben_fff wrote:Because we more than likely are as are the other 14 clubs in the league, I'd be pretty dissapointed if we didn't look at the players that get delisted.riccardo wrote:WHY WHY WHY?

but to bring in players with injuries, or you know are ordinary or have less than a season to go before disappearing into the mist.
As I said for much of this season I would rather give rix, brooks and blake and even van rheenan a shot in the ruck, than clarke who said thanks for a cash, lol back home to SA.

His football ability doesn't make up for his terrible attitude and work ethic. At his best he might be a 30-goal per year small forward, but the chances are that he'd play the entire first half of the season in the reserves and then walk out and go back to Broome.
He isn't the amazing talent many people seem to think he is. If he was a 60-goal per year small forward then he'd be worth a shot, but sampi is a GOP.

I would take him for sure. 23 is way too young to be on the scrap heap. He could play 5 years and 100 games for the Saints. Remember he was a firsat round draft pick and we are comparing him to someone at the bottom of our list in terms of pay -so sure - give him minimum wage and performance based contract for 2 years. he can play.
Obviously this is all prefaced on him wanting to play, a psychometric test/report and a full medical.
If he can meet these conditions I say we give him a go.
Waste of time talking about Cousins becuse
a) the AFL will ban him for 12 months; and
b) he is 29
