Eastern's Fixture Analysis !!

Post: # 483004Post Eastern »

I have decided to break the fixture up into 4 game blocks. That way it is easier to to give a reasonable analysis without showing too much of my St Kilda bias;

BLOCK 1.

Syd, Carl, Dogs & Geel. All at TD with the Dogs game being the only away game. A really good mix with Syd being a real challenge who are normally slow starters. Carl will be improved by the arrival of Judd. Dogs could be sliders. Geel will be a real test of where we are at. This start would be a Membership & Merchandise Managers dream. If we could win 3 out this 4 our season would really start to gather momentum.

BLOCK 2

Ess, Port, Rich & Coll. Our 1st trip interstate for the year is surrounded by games that could see the 3 biggest crowds at TD for the year. Let's hope that the club takes FULL advantage of the home games v Ess & Coll and can turn them into huge profits from Corporate Events etc. Wins in front of huge crowds v Ess Rich & Coll would be a massive boost for players and fans. Port at AAMI is a real danger game. Bye weekend between Rich & Coll is seen as a positive.

BLOCK 3

Bris, Melb, Dogs & Syd. I/S, Home, Home, I/S Early return games v Dogs & Syd will be interesting. A time to get all the travel arrangements right going to Bris & Syd. Could be a period of consolidation. 3-4 wins

BLOCK 4

I have dubbed this "Stick it up Em" Block. We have Freo, where something always hapens. Roos on the Gold Coast making this our 6th I/S trip. I was hoping that this game was 1 week later so it would fall in the middle weekend of the school holidays (we will need to plan so that we have more fans than them) Carl where Bakes can resume hostilities with Mr Judd and Haw, who blamed us for that chyt game this year. The 2nd bye after the Roos game could be a good time for players to spend 3-4 days in the sun. Would be good to win all 4

BLOCK 5

West Coast (away), Port, Coll & Freo (away). Our toughest block for the year with trips to Perth at the start & end. Player management will need to be spot on during this block. Depending on circumstances, the Coll game at the G could be our biggest crowd for the H & A season. Anything better than a 2-2 result would be a bonus in this block.

BLOCK 6

Only 2 games in this block. Adel & Ess, both at TD. I would hope that by this time we have only used 28-29 players. This would mean that injuries have been kept to a minimum. The Ess game being a Sunday Twilight Game means that our 1st Final will be played on the Sunday

I have a preference for Saturday Night games and 8 of these siuts me. I don't mind the 5 Friday Night Games either. The 2 trips to Perth in 3 weeks is going to be a real test and the away game on the Gold Coast is one we should remind the afl of with our wish list next year.

A reasonably fair fixture for us with a few anomolies. I would call it a challenging Draw. I believe we have the ability to meet these challenges head on.

My prediction: 16-6, finishing 2nd !!

Geelong... that one would have been fairly obvious I'd have thought. Bakes would have been a prime candidate for either Bartel or Ablett.
