Hell, why don't we go the whole hog and relocate because you think the comman man can't afford to catch a plane in this day and age.

While we're at it, I haven't been to a Melbourne Cup since being based up here, so maybe we could move that too? I can walk to Eagle Farm from where I live so that would be just smashing.

Seriously, you're angry because I said 'catch a plane'?

Spot on.

What about the idea of playing Brissy the next round and get rid of two interstate trips in two weekends and let the boys stay up there for say the 8 days or so and make the best out of it for the club as in members and clinics ect. Just a thought.
Would think the AFL would schedule this type of thing for the Kangas & Bris rather than the Saints & Bris.

Good luck trying to get any promotion for a non-Qld team in Qld.

From Auskick to AFL, everything is promoted with Lions branding.

I am a footy starved Saints fan needing to adjust my life with less footy.

I was annoyed by the fact that you dismissed my concerns given that flying to games affords to the opportunity to avoid this problem.

Am I overly sensitive and emotional to the point that I will suggest moving the Melbourne Cup...no! Relax. If you could step down from your high horse for one minute, you might be able to concede that 'catching a plane' isn't a solution that works for me and hence your initial post was simply irrelevant to me. I am sure other people appreciated your tremendous insight into your jetsetting ways nonetheless.

Jeff, TBH . . . and this may sound harsh . . . but I couldn't give a continental what works for you (or in this case me either). My only concern in this discussion is what woks for St Kilda and what give us the best chance of winning a flag.

As for my so-called jet-setting ways, what do you know about me or how many games I get to?

Well address one of my earlier posts then. I fail to see how playing an away game againsts the Kanagaroos at a neutral venue provides us with a disadvantage unless it means that we play an additional interstate game. I'll break it down for you Jeff. Would you rather play Kangaroos at the GC or West Coast in Perth?

So in essence, although my initial post was written from a selfish and self-serving basis, it may actually be the case that this arrangement is more likely to be advantageous to the St. Kilda Football Club.

PS. I understand that you couldn't care less where I am coming from, it is highlighted by the arrogance with which you suggest interstate travel as feasible for all and by the fact that you purport to hold the interests of the Football club in higher regard than myself.

Neither.

I don't think it's a question of one or the other.

What makes you think being scheduled to play on the GC is a trade-off for another interestate game? Since we don't have any guaranteed fixturing like the so-called blockbuster clubs, more game played outside Victoria means the more chance we have to be scheduled there.

I'd love to hear how.

I'm arrogant because I think most people can afford an interstate trip once or twice a year? WOW.

Even more ridiculous is the suggestion I'm arrogant because I care more about the club's fortunes than you getting to see the odd game?

I think it's a scream you're upset . . . sorry angry . . . because I said "Catch a plane", and then you attempt to insult me in just about every post since.

Someone's a tad precious here.

Maybe if your financial situation is so dire you should spend less time posting on fan forums and spend more time trying to improve it.

When I lived in WA we would very much look forward to two games a year and at the same time we didn't like the fact that Saints had to travel over there and it was awful to watch some of those games - terrible losses topped off with crippling injuries at times.

When we only got one game in a particular year we were more pissed off about Colloingwood's non-travelling fixture more than anything.

Surely the team is going to travel somewhere or another and good luck to the locals for wishful thinking IMHO. I travelled to Perth for Harves big win - but spent the time with the lads in the pub and watched it on TV - some might say that was a bit wierd and they are probably right - but we don't catch up very often and we had a good view of the game and gave some lip to the Eagles supporters.

For the locals its a great opportunity to catch up with other local Saints supporters too.

Edit: Took out a sentence that in hindsight was not nice - some things are better left unsaid.

good if yes- I now have rellies in Qld

and yes WA and SA if applicable get TWO games on their membership
-except there are so few seats at Subi that you are lucky to get into one let alone two and supposedly this year they balloted- if you got first game you didn't have as much luck the second.( will this change with the eagles troubles?)
Plugger14 wrote:If we do get 2 games up here in Qld it will interesting to see if both games are included in our "Qld based membership package".

WA & SA members do you get the opportunity to get tickets to both games if played in Perth or Adelaide?

Agree with Jeff Dunne.
We play our best football at Telstra Dome, in comparison to our interstate record. An extra 4 points at the end of the season is often the difference for us. And I would surprised if this was not the case in 2008 as well.

This is an indictment on our club's performance and position at the moment, if our club had the clout, attendance records that others have (and that i thought we had in the past) the AFL would not consider playing stkilda games away from Telstra Dome.

I don't think you can say that this is instead of an additional interstate trip. We've done the hard yards in Tasmania, it's a pity we're not in a position to negotiate for a better deal.

It must be nice for interstate supporters though, and I'd be very keen to sell our pre-season games for now until 2050 to the gold coast. But when it comes to premiership points, and we are in a financial position to not sell our own games, its a great pity we aren't able to play our away games in Melbourne against other Victorian sides.

Would interstate supporters rather see us play at the gold coast against the kangas, or watch (or fly) a preliminary/grand final?
That's potentially the trade off.

Of course this could be premature, as the fixture to my knowledge hasn't been released in full.

In any case its out of our hands, its just a pity that our position as a club that had some clout/influence is pretty much back to where it was prior to 2004.
