Player numbers

Post: # 477971Post ACTSaint »

What number do you think the new guys will wear ?

King 2
Dempster 5
Schneider 13
Gardiner 24

or will we save the lower numbers for the draft picks ?

I'm a hard man to ignore but its well worth the effort.

I reckon we should give number 9 to our pick number 9

Not that jumper numbers mean all that much but I would like to see number 5 back out on the field more often. It has been worn by some great players for our club and we have not seen it since Aussie gave it away.

King 2 and wasn't Schneider 13 at Sydney?

Yup, sure was I think he will definietly wear number 13 for us too...
I agree with your comment on number 5 but I feel the same way about number 4... I wouldn't mind seeing Gilbert being awarded the number 4 for his great season, however he may have become attached to number 19...

What kind of a statement is that? should we pick jumior rioli he should have no say and do the apprenticeship in a higher number before getting reward for some hard work.

He could take it as a sign of faith in him and want to work that little bit harder for the club if he did....
Anyway from what I've heard about Junior he is a small forward flanker isn't he? Why would we need him now if we just picked up Schneider, I wouldn't mind picking up a hardnut inside midfielder like what I hear Ebert is supposed to be or even a future Key Back like Rance.... But this is all from hearsay I haven't actually seen any of the new crop play...

I'd like to see Sammy Fisher move from 25 to 5, and Gilbert 19 to 4, but they're probably both happy where they are.

Maybe Harvs can move to 2? One for each Brownlow.

not saying that he will get it nor deserves it but all throughout his young career he has doned the number 2 jumper and considering it is available im sured he would be thrilled if it was handed to him

Numbers are like different brands of toilet paper, some are soft and some are hard, but they still do the same job!

Armo has a considerable way to go before he is elevated to a lower number (?)
If he wants it, Gilbo could have four for mine, though I note we have a quite distinguished player in #35.

IMO how high or low the number is has very little to do with how much of an honour it is to wear it, it is more the players who have worn that number before that is why 4 would be the highest honour available and when the great man retires there would have to be a very worthy candidate for that number to be given to anyone else...

Banger wears 35
made it his own

Bet people would be jumping all over it to wear it if it became available

Or he could move to number 4 and give him something to aim for.

Win it for HIM!
