goal kicking accuracy
Fantastic to see the saints making positive changes with staff etc so far this off season.
Though one area where we could get a tangible boost on match day is through improving goal kicking accuracy.
We really let ourselves down with kicking this year (X, 10.16 and Fizz, 12.19 in particular). We need some improvement in this area, especially when you consider we are losing Frase, who aside from being one of our heaviest scorers was also pretty reliable in front of goal.
Any whispers of a kicking coach coming on board?

Yeah really need to work on the accuracy, and with our midfielders I think it oculd have a lot to do with the fitness aswell, when you're tired an eays kick can be made considerably harder...

that's a very scarey thoughtOh When the Saints wrote:with Fiora helping out with shots on the run
Dal has turned his kicking on the run accuracy around, wonder what his secret is?
maybe just a fitness thing as Armooo suggested, though Fizz shouldn't e too puffed, seeing as he normally plays in small spells

Heater said there was nothing wrong with Riewoldt's goalkicking action, and his inaccuracy was nothing more than psychological.Oh When the Saints wrote:Should get Jason Heatley to be goal-kicking coach.

Which is fair enough and I think the club have reconised it and that is why they took down the behind posts at Moorabbin...Riewoldting wrote:Heater said there was nothing wrong with Riewoldt's goalkicking action, and his inaccuracy was nothing more than psychological.Oh When the Saints wrote:Should get Jason Heatley to be goal-kicking coach.

even though some guys can learn to kick straighter for goal (loewe for example) I'm of the belief that goal-kickers are born, not made, and that for the most part you either have the knack of kicking them or you don't ... which isn't to say that we shouldn't practice.
x clarke should be hbf and fiora wing or outside onballer imo. we need better natural goal-kickers such as dal and bj closer to goal

Goal Finishing is an obvious area needing improvement
'Heater' Heatley was poetry in motion. He just made kicking for goal look so easy. I still recall the preliminary final Saint Kilda won. Heatley ran amuck and the result (from memory) was 7 beautiful goals.
I liked what he said about Roo having only a psychological block at scoring. Rooey was kicking some beauties though especially towards the end of the year.
Gilbert appears to have some natural talent kicking for goal and he may force himself into the forward line more if he keeps his kicking boot on song.
The club lost a ridiculous ly high number of quarters and games in 'red time' as G.T. liked to call it - those vital minutes at the end of quarters and matches. The defeats to Collingwood and west coast were particularly annoying.
KEEP AT IT SAINTERS !

The boy can play and we can build a defence around him that will have respect.
