Yes probably 1 each for D and G.
I think that while both can add to our depth that they were probably in large part taken to get Schneider and King...as both the Cats and the Swans had salary cap problems.
D and G do BOTH have an upside though...but even if they don't it was ok getting them purely as back up players so that we could land King and Schneider. A few Cat mates reckon that Gardiner had a good year and that it was only that S Johnson was having an excellent year which kept him out.
RL would obviously know Dempster well...so he may surprise us by becoming a solid bottom 6 player.

There are no rules...SaintBot wrote:how come Melbourne have to pay out a %age of Travis Johnston's salary next year but Sydney dont have to with Schneider & Dempster
It all depends on what clubs deal.
It has happened before that when a club has a player on a contract that to get another club to accept him that the first club agrees to pay a portion of the future contract.

Oh When the Saints wrote:Dempster would be on 2-3 years at least.
Lyon rates him hugely and if he is fit, he will play 25 games for us next year, and every match whilst RL is coach.
i would understand if he had 2, but 3 years imo is too long. a fringe player from an opposition club should not get a 3 year deal upon arrival.
I don't mind the look of Dempster and would like to see him turn out to be a very servicable player for our club, and playing in our 2008 premiership team however i think he should have to prove himself in our stripes, whiulst RL may rate him highly, he has done nothing in saints colours to warrantr a 3 year deal.
