Evidently this was going to have been the trade.

I'm relieved that it fell through too - Bolton is a terrific workhorse for the swans and a tough midfielder but he would give us more of the same (a little like Ball and Hayes) without getting that explosive bursts from packs.
I like L. Fisher as an old style strong back pocket with a nice kick - I could see him flourishing after an injury-free run.

saintsrus wrote:You guys saying your glad it fell through are crazy, Boltons protection of NDS in particular would almost give him the brownlow.
There's also a whisper that Bolton's body has really been hammered over the last 3 years - he's a very competitive inside mid. I'm not confident that he would be that effective over the next 2 years without the support of 3/4 other mids hammering away at opposition as well.

It is not that he is not rated...it is just that we have more medium back flankers than we need (note that Dempter and Gardiner are both taller...and in Dempsters case quicker) and LESS midfielders than we need.Zed wrote:so Leigh is obviously rated by Sydney then .. pity he doesnt get the same respect from some of our "supporters".
I rate him and would've hated to see him leave
If Balls injury does not improve Bolton would have been good in his midfield role.

"In relation to discussions involving Leigh Fisher as a possible trade to Sydney, the Club would like
to clarify that the Swans did show interest in Leigh, however at no stage did he fly to Sydney nor did
he meet with their medical staff in person.
While Leigh was considered an option to the Swans, St Kilda is extremely satisfied to have retained
the young backman / midfielder.
“Leigh is both a quality player and person and the Club is very pleased to have been able to retain
himâ€
