Full forward 2008
Who?
Watts - slow but possible.
Kosi - if we get a decent ruckman, why not? Can take a pack mark, can lead and out of the way a bit injury wise campared to rucking.
Brooks - massive detractors, big issues in many way but plonk him there and see what happens?
Other?

Jarryd Allen - Very similar to the Sean Rusling's and Ben Reid's from Collingwood from what I have seen.CeilidhSaint wrote:Other?

Brendon Goddard ... great mark, great kick, good size and strong.
Jarryd Allen ... throw him in the deep end and see if we have another Westhoff on our hands.
Nick Riewoldt ... I have no doubt he would kick 70 playing from the square.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

kosi. just gives you a massive contested marking target down there, more so than brooks, bj or even roo. is wasted doing hack work in the ruck.
imo all of the above (possibly with the exception of brooks) should be part of a new-look goal-kicking forward line. if it's not working on a particular day we can swap them around.
the importance of putting a score on the board (an area in which we should have been much better last season) cannot be underestimated.
btw, i'm sure roo would make a pretty good ff, too, but why use a guy with his huge endurance and tank in the most static position on the ground?
you have to play to your strengths and roo's strength is in burning off opponents, not outmarking them.

I think he will end up there one day, but maybe not just yet. And he will be awesome when he does. It's hard to remember Gehrig running around as a wing, or playing as fullback. When BJ lobs at full forward it will be like he was born for it.TimeToShineFellas wrote:Could possibly work......... might be a good place for him coming back next year for a few weeksOh When the Saints wrote:Brendon Goddard ... great mark, great kick, good size and strong.

i don't think BJ would work down there, i think its a bit naive to expect any good player to be able to go down to FF and preform consistantly
and bugger 70 goals, Roo would clock near the 100 goal mark if he was played as a permanent full forward

Can't waste Roo or BJ there - what we NEED is ACCURATE PASSES to leading forwards, including Roo!! Am sick of hearing Roo " leads to early/is dragged under ball" when ALL we had to do was hit him on chest instead of long/high bombs! Give Watts or Brookes a go BUT PLEASE WORK ON ACCURATE PASSES!!!!!!

I think if BJ is picked, he has to be fit.
If he is not, don't play him.
You can't hide players.
BJ should be in the centre square and doing what he was always touted to do - be the next Nathan Buckley.

BJ will be fit round 1 (hopefully) but it will take about half the year at least for him to get the confidence back in his body and the feel for the game againCeilidhSaint wrote:I think if BJ is picked, he has to be fit.

This is a bit left of centre - and I'm not insisting this is a great idea, just a thought. Michael Gardiner? Injury history suggests he might not cope with the attrition of the ruck. Takes a good grab, decent kick. A lot of what if's but I thought I'd throw it in the ring.

Gardiner can play ruck/forward and makes an okay #3 tall in this role, however as a #1 he doesn't cut it. He's got 87 career goals, and his accuracy is around 54%... some would say his endeavours to play Full Forward cost West Coast the 2005 GF.Ball_Breaker wrote:This is a bit left of centre - and I'm not insisting this is a great idea, just a thought. Watts is the one for me
He needs to take on the role as FF and hold his spot only time will tell, hope this works out though otherwise we are going to use Kosi up there and that could be a bit of a waste unless we some how get a ruckman on the ground that can do some damage.
Anyone else feel we are way off the mark when it comes to filling in the key positions on the ground

I think the Schneiderman will complement our forward line beautifully. He is more suited than Milne to play up the ground a bit and create a bit more havoc outside the 50... We definitely need one of Watts/Brooks/Allen to step up - then we can rest one of Kosi/Gardiner in the forward pocket, Milne in the other pocket, Roo playing his natural, roaming game at CHF, with X Clarke playing as an additional midfielder on one HFF, and Schneider as a true HFF....
HF: X Clarke Riewoldt Schneider
F: Milne Watts/Brooks/Allen Kosi/Gardiner
HF: X Clarke Riewoldt Schneider
F: Milne Watts/Brooks/Allen Kosi/Gardiner
The Saints are coming!
IF we can get Gardiner on the park Id try first up a Watts/ Kosi combination with Kosi and Gardiner rotating through the forward line. Roo roaming all over 50 and Milne / Schneider mopping up the crumbs
BJ..Wing/HFF...hitting the above blokes lace out from 60
