Looks like be a huge number of trades this year...
The deals are starting to flow.
Not many trades last year...but witha weak draft looks like Clubs will seek to address weaknesses in their lists by trading.
I expect a quite a few deals tomorrow.

Not good so far for the Saints.
Our list hasn't improved as yet and aside from a few rumours, if we don't secure a midfielder in the trade period, we will be up against it again next year.
So far the winners have been Carlton, Brisbane and Collingwood (in that order).
I hope Brian Peake and Ken Sheldon know what they are doing.

Which begs the question........... apart from when Blighty was down there (and we had an influx of Hamill, Gehrig, Voss and the like), why can't we land a prized-recruit of late?Art Vandelay wrote:Not good so far for the Saints.

I would say we haven't landed a prized recruit over the past 3-4 years because 1) we have been paying 100% of the salary cap to keep a talented squad together and 2) it is unusual for teams playing finals to pull off "big" trades.
I'm not fussed if the Saints don't get anyone, and keep their draft picks.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

I get what you mean, I just think that we have lost a fair amount of experience with retirements this year.Oh When the Saints wrote:I would say we haven't landed a prized recruit over the past 3-4 years because 1) we have been paying 100% of the salary cap to keep a talented squad together and 2) it is unusual for teams playing finals to pull off "big" trades.

Surely we must have some salary cap relief at the minute, wouldn't mind at least 1 quality pick-up at trade time (without losing our first pick) and like you said keeping the rest of our draft picks.
Most importantly if we do land a player by tomorrow afternoon, I hope it's not a player that looks like "topping up" our list - ala McGough and the like as we have seen in previous trade weeks.

the reason we havent had the "BIG" trades for a few years is our team is pretty compleate with stars we only need to fill a few gaps not rebuild also "big" trades cost big picks and big players
i think we are happy with our starting 22 and no club will trade a star for our fringe players
