Leadership Group - Who steps up?
With the retirements of Gehrig and Hamill, who, if anyone, do you think should step up into the leadership group to replace them?
The current group is Hayes, Ball, Riewoldt, Koschitzke, Harvey & Dal Santo.
I would go for Goddard and Hudghton. Both have good leadership qualities, Goddard is a future star and Hudghton is someone all the players look up to. There's no leader in the backline from the current group either.
Sam Fisher and Joey Montagna would be a chance aswell. While Maguire and Baker have been in the leadership group in the past.

Goddard and Maguire should be added. I think Goddard is a natural leader and Maguire needs the responsibility, take his mind off attending letter openings.
I think the great man, Sir Robert, should head a junior leadership group of three players who are in their first three years of AFL and develop them to step up in to the main leadership group. These three can also represent the other juniors and rookies.
I would suggest, Gilbert, Armitage and Allen.

It's worrying as there are now some massive holes in leadership experience due to retirements. Thommo was a great experienced leader as were G and Hammer. Unfortunately, IMO there is no one from the young guys really jumping out at me to fill the void.
Innocent until proven guilty!

Schimma said something like this when he was coaching the Roos,he got sacked,Pagan got the job and made Carey captain, thus disproving Scimma's theory...i think he did alright at it,until he strayed with his team- mates spouse..killa_gram wrote:It's worrying as there are now some massive holes in leadership experience due to retirements. The next generation leaders are there,we just haven't needed to notice them.

I personally believe those three need to focus on playing 18+ games next year.SaintBot wrote:agree....chances would be hudghton and maguire and bakerSolar wrote:Captain : Riewoldt
