Trades & Drafting !!
Lets look at all of this realistically;
Gehrig, Thompson, M Clarke, Voss & Hamill have all retired. Sweeney & Raymond have been de-listed. Attard & Jones have been elevated.
THAT LEAVES US WITH 5 PICKS PRIOR TO TRADE WEEK
Most clubs would want 4-5 picks this year, so unless we do some minor like for like type trades I don't see us as being big players in the trade period.
It's nice to say we could do with player X or player Y, but you need to give quality to get quality these days. Everbody knows that.
Also, recent years have produced very little in the way of trades. Last year was inflated because of Everett & Ackermanis. Judd will add a bit to this years trade but it will be mostly picks, not players
THOUGHTS? !!

Well, normally id agree with this comment - and for most clubs id agree with this comment
But this literally is Ross Lyon's first trade period as coach, he has a clearer mind of what he wants in his side and I dont think he would be afraid to chase the small forward and midfielder which the club has come out and said they are after.
Honestly I wouldnt be surprised if we do make a trade or two next week.

Harvs is older than you think. He was recruited under the Zone rules that applied way back then !!Nick_Dal_Santo = ChAmPiOn wrote:didnt james hird go at like 78? and wat did harvs go at?Oh When the Saints wrote:I think we will use 4 picks in the draft. After the 50's this draft is very weak, so I don't envisage us using a pick beyond #58.
Look out for Lyon to pick up a player in the PSD too.

Got told last night that there is at least one if not two more to go but that will be after trade week to see what we get if anyone.Eastern wrote:Lets look at all of this realistically;

Harves was plucked off a penal ship at olde Hobarte Town in Van Diemens Land.Nick_Dal_Santo = ChAmPiOn wrote:didnt james hird go at like 78? and wat did harvs go at?Oh When the Saints wrote:I think we will use 4 picks in the draft. 1822 if the records are correct? - sentenced to 7 years hard graft in New Hollande for the theft of a cobbling iron.
St Kilda pinched him from a chain gang laying the foundations of the court house in Melbourne Towne.
They liked his pluk and dashe!
The fact that he is still playing now is a credit to him and the St Kilda recruiting staff!

Reading between the lines here, but - Brooks and Ferguson seem likely candidates.plugger66 wrote:Got told last night that there is at least one if not two more to go but that will be after trade week to see what we get if anyone.
