Who is better Buckley, Voss, or Hird
I read that infuriating question a thousand times over the past five years.
Well here a tip - they are all gone now, over, ta taa, kaput, finished.
But there is one name that was always overlooked when these three were compared.
One Sir Robert Harvey. And guess what you singular and shared Brownlow medallists, the Dual Brownlow medallist is still going.
So for skill, fair play, and longevity, Sir Robert has you all covered.
Never did Harvs smear blood on an opponent. Never has Harvs been finde $20k for implying an umpire was a cheat. Never has thew great man ever been involved in a punch up in a seedy pub requiring him to attend court.
the man is an icon, and when he wins the flag (along with his teammates in 2008) will be a footballing legend.
The great man Robert Harvey has seen off all the pretenders and sits alone now as the greatest player of the modern era.

Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

I really dont give a shyte.
I wouldn't trade 1 minute of harvey playing for st kilda.
whats more you can tell how much fear harvey generates at 127 years of age in the number of times he is still lined up.
a few stats I read recently.
20% of all AFL/VFL players have played with or against Robert Harvey
18% of the AFL players listed in 2008 will not have been born when Robert Harvey Debuted
Robert Harvey has gathered approximately 10,000 possessions in his career.
Robert Harvey is the no.2 player for most brownlow votes
Robert Harvey has never been suspended for a game in his career.
Robert Harvey was reported once and found guilty of a melee in a reportable offence that has existed for only 4% of the duration of the AFL
and contrary to popular opinion Robert Harvey cannot walk on water...it parts when he walks by.
thats aside from the dozens of other records everyone knows about.

Bewaire krime, da krimson bolt is comeing to yure nayborhood to smach krime
SHUT UP KRIME!

A couple of others that are also excluded from the VBH rage are Ricciuto and Brad Johnson. I can cop that ultimately you would have them just behind, but the Pies and Bombers egos can account for most of the hype. Think Harvey was too much of a nice guy to be included - only reason I can think that he's not included in that argument! (that and he is from a smaller club). He has it all over them for consistency, longevity, two brownlows and at least equal in fairness.
We are a sniff
IMO Hird was the smarter out of the three, probably the most naturally gifted and the most miraculous on the field.
Voss was a captain's captain. The most courageous imo. He'd be my captain if I were coaching all three.
Buckley was the most polished. Very "text book". If I were teaching someone the skills of the game, I'd show them a video of Buckley.

Harvey is no.1 player for most brownlow votes, he just past Gary Dempsey's record this year.Dan Warna wrote:I really dont give a shyte.

HArvey by a mile then Buckley, Voss, Hird i don't have much respect for Hird at all. Voss has a fantastic leader and was the main reason Brisbane did so well for so long. Buckley was your ultimate footballer had all the skills was fairly good looking and very well mannered. As it has been said he is the only one of the 3 to include HArvs in every debate about who is the best so he knows where is he in terms of who is the best. HArvey then Buckley.
