With Chris Grant and Nathan Buckley gone in the last few days (as well as the other half dozen or so a few weeks ago), the list of 2008 players by age, games played and seasons played would be interesting. There must be a huge gap between Harves and the next closest in each case.

To steal a phrase from the late great Billy thorpe - Melbourne, Lock up your daughters!

The Filth army will be out pillaging on this news. None of us will be safe from them.

Bye Bye Figjam.

You could've played in 3 flags with the Brions!

Whos Eddie going to tuck into bed next year

Come and join Hamill at the saints in the coaches box.

You will be amazed how easily your head will come out of your arse once you get out of the Lexus centre.

Good luck Nafen.

7,711 games of experience have left the game this year- if you include M Voss

Harvs will be the only player to retire next year!

I think Everitt will be the second oldest player in the comp next year at 33 while Harvs will be 37!

Yep, whether he likes it or not, Banger's getting the limelight all to himself. The way it should be.

Damn right. I was worried that he would retire this year and go out silently while everyone was kissing Hird's arse and worshipping Buckley, Archer, Kouta, Ricciuto etc.

Maybe he'll just have to wait a few more years until the next big group of retirements.

Shame you didnt stay at the Brions, Figjam, you'd have at least three premiership medals now. Good riddance

How old is Westy he would be getting up there?

Go Harves you bloody legend, hope he goes for the record games played and gets a premiership in there as well

Wind him up, put him out there, and away he goes, was one good thing that came out of GT's mouth, WHO is going to stop him.

33 last month according to his date of birth. Everitt is older by 4 months. And Shane Wakelin is in the middle of them both.

Despite hating the filth & Buckley for most of his career, he was a gun...one of the best I've ever seen.

Will be an excellent coach & a coup for whatever club can extract him from the Licksarse Centre as an assistant coach.

Speaking of which, has Voss indicated he will be up for an assistant's role in 2008. Getting him or Bucks as a midfield/development coach would be a huge for the club. With Voss' role at the AIS he would be brilliant at fast tracking the development of our draftees & rookies.

While not doubting Michael Voss' qualifications, if Aaron Hamill is interested in a role as a development coach or similar then I would hope that he would be considered before anyone else.

Has had a hand in the development of the likes of Riewoldt, Koschitzke and Ball and they have all turned out fairly well!! :)

Was his press conference over the top? I haven't seen any of it yet however, I did hear that it was sad.

With all due respect to Sammy, I'd take Voss every day of the week over him as a development coach. Three flags, inspirational leader, will coach senior footy eventually & has had a development role at the AIS for the last 12 months.

Would be a brilliant addition to the club & would not have to be at the expense of Sammy. The new board have stated that the footy department will be expanded so a few new roles could be expected.
