not only have the premiers over the yrs had great running midfields & rock solid defence but most importantly a strong bodied strong minded key forward...someone that can not only control their position but whats happening around them
get bloody roo back inside 50 doing what he's meant to do not taking cheap marks 70 from home & worse still forced to go fn sideways or back another 30 yds

i wouldn't call marks Roo takes late in the 4th quarter of a game on a 100 meter lead cheap....
Gehrig was our Full Forward, Roo was our CHF
Roo was the link between our backline/midfield and forward line all season, none of his possesions were 'cheap'
yes, this year he will need to play closer to goal and score more, and he will
Roo would have kicked 100 goals+ if he had Mooney's role in this years Geelong team

this is the reason we had to re-sign goose. some people around here regard him as a plodder and claim (incorrectly, i might add) he can only play on certain "types".rogerwa wrote:not only have the premiers over the yrs had great running midfields & rock solid defence but most importantly a strong bodied strong minded key forward ... someone that can not only control their position but whats happening around them
which "types"?
A: The mooney, hall, tredrea, brown, carey, merrett, kernahan, brereton types.
with goose, kosi and riewoldt holding down key positions along the spine and some others such as chips and gilbert we have the makings of a really aerially-dominant team. work on our weaknesses, sure, but play to our strengths.
