Geelong won the premiership race
I remember about 3-4 years ago it was the big call of a race to see who would win the Premiership first StKilda or Geelong. Well we all know the answer now.
Why?
After even 04 and 05 , where we were probably just in front and both had sub par 06 Geelong has run ahead. Some may use the injury excuse, but the realisty is Geelong has recruited better than StKilda for the last 3 years. They have developed depth through Youth, where we traded in a hurry and it didn't work, hence we now lack depth. They had guys like Gardiner, Playfair, King, Prismall, Tenace, Varcoe, D Johnson all playign reserves, even with no injuries out depth is not that good.
This is why it concerns me trading pick 9. If players being offered are that good, why are they being let go ? I know it is for Judd, but neither Frawley or Pettard have shown that much as yet so this concerns me.
Anyway Bomber and Frank are smiling and Thomo and Rod are not even working together any more!

Why are we so scared of letting go of pick NINE?
Im a big supporter of recruiting youth, high draft picks and development.....
.....But if the deal is right St Kilda supporters should not fear giving it away.
Relax, a proven player of the right order is always going to be a better chance than a lottery ticket.
All pick nine represents is optimism and hope. There are a lot of people here that wouldnt even do a straight swap with Judd for it.
Get a grip.

He may have been proven right 3 years after he made his comments, but at the time he was dead wrong (proven by us smashing them by 10 goals twice in a row).Spinner wrote:PS I hate Chapman even more now because he seems to be proven right in that Geelong is a better team than St Kilda.
But hate him or not, he is a freaking good player. Can't believe he didn't win the Norm Smith yesterday.

Using the premiership logic SHOULD we win it next year are we then better than Geelong?...for 1 year...yes.........and 3 years ago we proved it on several occasions we had their measure......untill the night Bomber worked out how to stop St Kilda (and Hamill stopped himself...) and they simply flooded.......abnd our "bang it in Brisbane style" game fell to bits...
That game still sticks in my guts.......a great mans milestone destroyed by sheer pathetic stupidity from the box.

Re: Geelong won the premiership race
I called at the time that Geelong were ahead of us, in terms of their development.older saint wrote:I remember about 3-4 years ago it was the big call of a race to see who would win the Premiership first StKilda or Geelong. Well we all know the answer now.

Most disagreed with me.
B4Eva even started an entire topic on my comment after we beat them in 2005.
Their KPPs are all mature.
Ours are only starting to slot into the neccessary maturity required of a KPP.
Anything we acheived before 2007 was a bonus, due to being well drilled and playing tight.

Ask your mate B4Eva, we argued about it several times.
Now it appears that he agrees with me.
Don't be upset Teflon, it's just yet another footy topic you were wrong about.

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

But they were ahead of us in terms of their list and it's development.
They still are.
We were well drilled and gave the effort, which was why we were above them.
Once that dropped off this year, so did our standing on the ladder.

Is that your way of saying you were wrong, again, and now apologise.
I'll do you a favour and accept one apology on behalf of the dozens of things you've been wrong about.

Teflon, you have said some very insulting, offensive and crude things over the time I've known you on here.Teflon wrote:

But nothing, nothing has ever even come close to this.
Comparing me to Patrick Smith is the biggest insult I've ever been exposed to.
Joffaboy, JoffaBurns, Stinger, B4eva - all take note. That's an insult!!
