Just looking at the assistant coaches we looked at last year - Chris Bond, Guy McKenna, John Longmire. Does one club passing over them make them undesirable for other clubs?
Will they forever be associated with the stigma as "not as good as Ross Lyon"?
Do assistants have one chance to break into the market?

Last I heard, Bond was looking at becoming an assistant out at Freo. To me, that would indicate Freo are going to play a very different brand of footy. If they have some success next year, Bond's name will shoot right to the top for any jobs that might open up.
Longmire and Mckenna would, at the very least, have the inside track to become the next coach of the clubs they're at.

Longmire could be coaching the Swans as early as 2009. He and Roos are already operating with a fairly equal setup. He is also next in line for the Kangaroos job, so his coaching prospects are pretty good.
McKenna is almost certain to be next at the Pies unless Mark Williams is available. He was very close at Carlton, and is still relatively young.
Bond is an interesting one ... was runner-up for our job, but then the Bulldogs have had a very poor year. Wonder if that has lowered his stocks somewhat?
Harvey wants an experienced assistant at the Dockers, and Bond would provide that, as well as being the "coach in waiting" over there.
Conversely, it was interesting that neither Bailey, Hardwick or Knights were mentioned last year.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.
