Cats..and good injury run...luck or????
I know from my chat with an ex-Saints Club Doctor last week that a lot of leading edge fitness and conditioning management is done in the European Soccer Competitions. He was at that time also critical of the saints not follwing all the advice they were given from the medical staff.
So with the Cats much better injury run this year it is no surprise to read in todays Age that:
That in May the cats hada new club Doctor Start in Chris Bradshaw.
Bradshaw who had also been an ex-Richmond Club Doctor had spent the previous 2 years as the Fulham Soccer Club's (premier League) head Doctor.. He is also evidently a former international athlete and Olympic team doctor..
After arriving in May he had by the year's end surrounded hinmself with other high quality professionals.
We the Saints have been way behind in our medical and condistioning management....and in recent years relied on the advice of people that were out of their depth.
With the engaging of Ross Smith and the AIS crew it is good that we are at last adopting a much more scientific basis for our conditionaing and training management.....rather than just leaving it in the hands of trainers who had essentially learnt on the job.
The revival of the Cats has been to many factors....and this is but one area....but is one are that the Saints were dismal in.

A mate of mine is a doctor and we were discussing the Saints soft tissue injury disease and he said that a lot of the problem is that the players had so many of them that they are now 'scarred' and in a lot of cases they will contnue to suffer soft tissue problems because of this 'scarring'.
Anybody ever hear of this 'scarring'?

Yeh thats it Stinger but the important thing is to get a system in place[re training techniques] that strengthens the areas concerned..all gets back to specific training and I'm hopeful that things will turn aound this year...have enormous respect for Ross Smith and having AIS input and support will be fantastic.
Knew Chris Bradshaw when he was just a training doctor[registrar] at Prince Henrys in the 80,s.Obviously has gone onto great things...was always a down to earth good bloke and a damn good athelete himself.
Think things will turn around with the direction the club is heading with this.
Not before time

It's an absolute, complete and utter, disgrace that it is now 2008 and we've missed 3 genuine cracks at a flag, and we're only now serious about this.saintsRrising wrote:Well Misson is now joining.....and with Ross and the AIS guys also recent on board I am looking forward to much improved player conditoning and injury management in 2008 at the Saints.
Another piece of the puzzle is now in place.

Roger, we may have argued over some points in the past, but that is absolutely correct. It's an absolute, complete and utter, disgrace that it is now 2008 and we've missed 3 genuine cracks at a flag, and we're only now serious about this.
It is another reason we need a change away from the small business minded, tech-services guys stumbling their way through the running our of club.
