Really nice guy, comes from a great family and thoroughly deserves the Chas.

I wish I'd put money on him early in the season - but I didn't.

He is a gun, I picked him to win but not with as many votes as he ended with - well done Jimmy.

May the Cats cr@p all over Port this week and finish the year off as they deserve to.

The theory that Ablett and Bartel would take votes off each other basically went out the window, since they both polled very well. Well done to Jimmy, I like the way he goes about his footy under the packs and winning the hard ball. A deserved winner.

Also, Kerr will definitely win a brownlow in the next few years, provided that he can stay out of trouble. This has the be the 3rd or 4th time hes finished in the top 3.

well done to him...hate geelong, but thought bartel was great the way he handled himself, unlike ablett who you could tell was disappointed.

Very happy with Jimmy winning the Brownlow - deserving winner, and an absolute gun in Geelong's midfield... Brilliant player

Had a tidy $35 on him this evening at 10-1....
A mate had $5 Each way on him at 251-1!! Now that's a good return for a $10 investment!!

Yeah great guy, just suprised that with all the media training the players get he wasn't comfortabe at all, even early on the night. But then again i think that is great we got to see his actual personality not what he has been trained to do. Well done Jimmy, as for ablett i dont mind him either and i never sore that ablett was shattered as others have suggested, he looked the same the whole night.

On a side night well done to dal santo he polled better than i expected, mayby i was expecting too much from him, but i found myself disapointed with many of his games. ( which shows how good he is and how much we expect from him)

Know of a guy who wins $23,000 for the Bartel/Geelong Brownlow/flag double.

I can't remember being more pleased about a Brownlow win, other than when a St Kilda player has won it.

Seems like a very modest and pleasant young bloke.

i must admit its the first time in a while that i have watched the brownlow and been happy with the winner

Disgusting piece of gutter journalism today for the front page of the Herald Sun. Absolutely disgraceful. Not newsworthy at all let alone a front page.

Shame on you Herald Sun.

I totally agree: it's an absolute shocker. But I fear it's pretty much par for the course with tabloid newspapers nowadays.

To me, the fact that Bartel's dad was prepared to engage in such an interview proves that Jimmy was spot on in wanting to have nothing more to do with him. There are all sorts of ways of trying to resolve family differences, but putting them on the front page of a newspaper for all the world to see is surely the worst imaginable.

Re Bartel as a Brownlow winner: I'm sorry to go against the general good feeling on this forum, but to me he is just a very hard worker rather than a genuine superstar. To me this is a major problem with the Brownlow: it rewards the hardworking, possession-getting midfielders over the guys who actually turn games.

Just imagine if Bartels came on the market at the same time as GA jnr, Riewoldt, Goodes, Cox, Foley, Pavlich, S Burgoyne, J Brown, even Barry Hall. Can you imagine any club being prepared to offer more for Bartels than any of these others?

I disagree.

I reckon Bartel is an absolute superstar.
Uses the ball superbly and would be both the clubs best inside player, and best outside player, yes better then Ablett.
Lays a million tackles a week too.
best player in the comp.

Similar to Harvey in that context?

I think he was a worthy winner.
