They doubled up brownlow votes back in those days.....have a look.....Dan Warna wrote:jeez robert harvey is ONLY in the top half a dozen or so of all time brownlow vote getters out of the thousand who have played AFL/VFL?
IMO overrated
Blokes were gettin 50 votes in 1 year.....if 2 umpires gave the same vote they added them together.....or something like that.....
Basically if u take out of the equation.....Harvey has the most ever!!!

Harvey is poised to become the first player whose AFL/VFL career has extended to 21 consecutive seasons, bettering Michael Tuck's 20 years (1972-91) during which the durable Hawthorn star played a league record 426 matches.SaintBot wrote:thanks for that brat...has anybody else reached 20 seasons?
The career of the VFL's oldest-ever player, Vic Cumberland, spanned 22 years, but was interrupted by travel and service during the First World War.

WHY do they insist on aging Harves- he's JUST last month turned 36 and already they are saying he is 37
He said his decision to continue was based on two main factors - his fitness and feedback from the club that he was wanted, appreciated and, even at 37, thought to be still capable of matching it with the competition's best.
