Re: Travis Johnstone
Speaking of brain cells! I dont think Trav will be winning any awards for rocket science. Still if we can get 5 years of of his best midfield play - we know he is a good player if he gets his mind right.. He had 40 odd possesions in round 22.congorozides wrote:I think Judd will be going to the demons.
Pick 9 for Travis Johnstone.

Saw some footage of a kid playing for the East Freo Sharks who they reckon is going to go high up in the draft this year.
Anyone remember his name (I think he was captain of the victorious WA Under 18 team) and how high he's likely to go? Looks a gun.

On Nathan Jones...I have heard that we seriously considered taking him.....but in the end decided not to.
Would be a handy aquisition...

If we traded with Melbourne for pick 9 he would be my choice. Hard at it, quick enough, good skills, only young. He'd be a definite asset to our midfield.saintsRrising wrote:On Nathan Jones...I have heard that we seriously considered taking him.....but in the end decided nor too.

so we give pick 9 to whoever takes clint jones off our hands?fonz_#15 wrote:if we could get jones for pick 9, i would not hesitate for 20 seconds. he is a star in the making, melbourne surely wouldnt be foolish enough to trade him away

How could we have ever taken Jones?saintsRrising wrote:On Nathan Jones...I have heard that we seriously considered taking him.....but in the end decided not to.
He was drafted at pick 12 in the 2005 draft and our earliest pick was 17, which we traded for Watts.
And I doubt Melbourne would ever offer him as trade bait.

brad Miller for pick 9 PLZ, no.
Brad miller thrown in as a freebie with a real player ok.
Miller has potential but he's about the same place as x clarke is now. Potential, talent, unrealised.
will he go down the path of jared brennan and achieve his potential? or down the path of caydn Beetham and be rubbish?
IMO if we were to trade pick 9 i wouldn't mind jared rivers AND brad Miller and swap round 3 picks or something.
they get Judd with pick 3 and 9, we get Jared Rivers as a replacement for Max, and releasing sam fisher to the wing, and Brad Miller as 3rd tall in the forward line.

he was born in 1976, I'll let you do the math...woooosaints wrote:james mcdonald is quality why would you not want him?plugger66 wrote:Agreed excellent idea. Should also try and get Bizzell for our pick 3.woooosaints wrote:pick 9 for james mcdonald
thats why Im listing guys like rivers who are 22/23 and maybe throw in miller as a freebie to sweeten the deal.
we DONT want to trade pick 9, Melbourne NEED it for a crack and judd.

cool sometimes players start late, I think he was sick as a teenager and didn't go to melbourne till he was 21 or something, so he was basically 3 or 4 years behind everyone else in his development as a professional player.woooosaints wrote:wow i thought he was like 25Dan Warna wrote:he was born in 1976, I'll let you do the math...woooosaints wrote:james mcdonald is quality why would you not want him?plugger66 wrote:Agreed excellent idea. I guess folks are suprised at Andrew Thompsons age and the fact he didn't start till 23 or so for the saints.
I think sam fisher is another late bloomer of quality.
I think we are all hoping CJ proves another late bloomer of quality in 2008.
