The reason Andrew Thompson is involved
My theory is that the current playing list have had a gutful of the current board and Rod in particular and were a significant factor in making sure that they had representation on the proposed board in the form of a recent retiree
Not based on any nside knowledge but a reasonable assumption IMO...
Would be interested to hear if anyone at the coal face can confirm that the discontent extends beyond the staff to the playing/coaching group as well.

So your theory is that a Board Member in waiting who as a Board member is duty bound by ethics and law (which if he was an experienced Board Member he would know) to represent the members (ie shareholders) will in fact really be representing 40 odd people instead of the 30000 odd that he is meant to be representing?????
Some say that current Board have too many "mate" connections......but you state that this is why AT should be on the Board????

To put it simply I believe if the playing/coaching group are happy [or more importantly not unhappy]then the interests of the members will be looked after....
A happy united club has a chance to succeed an unhappy one is basically farked and doomed to failure..
A universal business principle surely.

saintsRrising, do you seriously believe that every member of the current administration acts as if they represent 30,000 members?
Never going to happen ... I doubt many board members at football clubs would think of their role in that sense as they are not charged with the responsiblity of ensuring profits for shareholders.
The responsibility of the board of a football club is to do everything possible to ensure the club wins a premiership.
If Andrew Thompson's voice as representative of the playing group allows the board to best fill it's responsibility (a subjective judgement) then there's nothing wrong with that.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

.
AT should treat the players as employees of the Club....very important employees....but employees none the less.
If he wants to be a Board Member....then he needs to act as a Board Member.

What you are advocating here is the active undermining of the Coach, Ross Lyon, and the Football Department.
Why do you think that Dermet and Dunstall running amok at the Hawks led to them having to pull their heads in (or rather out of football Department matters).
the players are employed in the Football Deaprtment and it should be left to the Football Department to manage them......direct meddling such as you are advicating would lead to anarchy and chaos..

Lesson No 1 - Fiduciary duty to act in the best interest of the organisation aka the shareholders (in our case the members).
Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Indeed Joffaboy...many do not seem to understand what the the role of a Board Member is.....and that there are legal constraints on whata Board Member NEEDS to do.joffaboy wrote:
