NATHAN BURKE IS on the footy show tonight!
Heard from friend of the producer. Butterss not going to be on. SFF want a footy focus .
Westaway was good on radio and the tv news.
I am really liking the way that Westaway , as a proposed president , is not trying to dominate all the news shows for his own ego , like some existing presidents....

He didnt sound that impressive to me and I would think he is getting Burkie to do some of the talking to get more votes. I am sure if RB had a great player on his board he would do the same thing.4theluvoftheclub wrote:Heard from friend of the producer. Butterss not going to be on. SFF want a footy focus .

I said good not great. And I must actually agree that Burkie is the "popular one". But still , I reackon that even if Rod had Harvey on the board , he'd still be the face of everything..does seem to love the media spotlight.

If RB had have answered some of the questions the way Burkie did
he would be ridiculed.....
Perception
Difference one considered past use by date
the other a fresh approach and a club legend to boot
No matter how RB answers is damaged goods in most eyes
Must admit burkie only just ok BUT first time probably under the grill in that enviroment

Disagree Chook...think that Burkie handled the slimey weisel with the class that we associate with the man....absorbed the pressure ,maintained his dignity and calmly responded...in contrast t o RB who is asking the new board to run its plan past the AFL..With Fonzie Rods mate to decide if they are worthy challenges.....a desperate ploy if ever there was one...not required under the rules of any club in the competition....the St.Kildav members will decide ...end of story.chook23 wrote:If RB had have answered some of the questions the way Burkie did

1. RB did an exclusive interview for TFS with only Hutchy asking leading questions and allowing him to waffle on in the only way that RB can, business rhetoric
2. Burkie came on live and faced not only Hutchy but Gary Lyon and his patsies and tried to make a fool out of a club legend. As AOK said in another thread Burkie's first reply to Hutchy in reference to allowing the AFL to give the tick of approval for the challengers would have won a lot of people over. Kudos for having the balls to go on to the show to face that firing squad.
Thats Mr. Smartarse to you

Its very easy to stand on the sidelines haveing NEVER been involved in an AFL club at Board level and having NEVER stuck your neck out and throw mud at Butters and the current Board. Lets face it Butters IS on a hiding to nothing whatever he says hell be chided as as spin doctor.
What GENUINELY impressed me about Butters today was when asked on radio would he go and sign up some footy club legends to be on the Board to counteract Burke and Co and hes said no. He said Boards are about commercial acumen and experience...just cause you were a fantastic footballer...doesnt make you a great Board member. That said I reckon Burkie spoke very well and handled himself well....I DONT like the way Westaway is hiding behind him cause he speaks like a gorilla who drives trucks.
“Yeah….nah””

my comparisons or view was not based only on the interviews tonight but RB over a period of time......Buckets wrote:Actually there is a big difference -chook23 wrote:If RB had have answered some of the questions the way Burkie did

Burkies was based on the interview

or similar..........
Unless I heard that bit wrong ........don't agree with that
