Thanks for your service Rod
I will not go down the road of bagging Rod Butters as I think he has done a fantastic job for the footy club. He took over from Andrew Plymtom and carried on the good work financially. As a club we have never been better of debt wise. Rod's problem has only come about with the sacking of GT. Wheter or not we agree with it you move on as we have all learnt over the years as saints supporters. The clash between RB and GT since in the press drags the club down. Its not going to end and will always appear in the press when we least want to hear about it. I am sceptical of the reason the footy first ticket is going by but will gather more info about it in the future. The previous tosser (Bedwell) who wanted a change has not credability. To be a president in Victoira you have to have exceptional corporate backing. ie Eddy,

Losing David Friend hurt us also.
the guy was everything you want from a senior manager.
i got to watch him calm a psycho saints supporter, got an opportunity to talk to him, remembering the posts from son'0'66 and wiz on how approachable and helpful he was, brilliant foil between the saints and that scum sucking toad ian collins, brilliant as the contact with the corporates.
man i frankly would vote for friend if he ran for government!
that was the best coup we ever had, the AFL had to get him off us
i don't know what he's doing now, but the man impressed me more that GT/RB/BW or anyone else in a fair amount of time.

Yes it is great pity that Waldon succumbed to his little brain. Though arubaly it was want he did to facilatate his little brain that was why he had to cough cofgh seek other opportunities.
He was a fantastic CEO for us.....he is still a fantastic CEO....and I would love it if we could now poach him back.

On David Friend....look yes he was good at his job.
Make no mistake he is very $$ driven and the $$ rolled in to him maximising membership take up rates (he would have been on some type...when they flattened at the Hawks he moved on...and ditto for us.
Recognise him for what he is....a great resource for a while...but not necessarilya long term membership manager.
He may of course bea useful consulatant to us in the future.

It would be interecting given that Gdanski took a 'swipe' at the current Board for using 'third parties' to get sponsors etc.
How would he explain using David Friend's 'consulting' business now, if using 'consultants' by the previous Board was so wrong?
