I fear not.
Mid second term (when Hodge and Bateman went off) I was wondering about the "what-ifs" and how Adelaide were going to cruise into a game in Melbourne next weekend against the loser of the Geelong/Kangaroos game.
But after watching the exploits of Hodge, Franklin and Crawford I wasn't sure we had the game/team to beat them. I think MAx and Bakes would have been crucial outs. So I think I don't feel as bad about missing out as I did last weekend. I'm not sure things would have panned out that well for us.

We wouldn't have beaten Collingwood.
- Rocca would have beaten Maguire (on form)
- No Hudghton to play on Cloke or Rusling
- No tagger (Baker) to play on Didak, who was good
- Attard was missing, so no-one to shut down Davis or tag through the middle
- Rocca would have beaten Maguire (on form)

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

True HD...I was actually thinking to myself today...which scenario would you prefer
1. Bowing out of finals contention the day before your actual game due to another result not going your way...or...
2. Falling into the 8, playing Hawthorn, leading all day but being pipped on the line by a Buddy Frankllin bomb with 7 seconds remaining.
Reckon right now Id take Option 1

Where was their form last week? They came to play last night. At least there is only 2 interstate teams left & we will have a different grand final this year.

If we had beaten Collingwood, we would have stayed in Melbourne and played the loser of Geelong v North Melbourne next week (Collingwood goes to Perth only because it ended up 6th and not 5th - Hawthorn would have played Sydney this weekend and, if it won, would have had to go to Perth next week).HarveysDeciple wrote:And even had we won, we would have travelled to perth.
If we won that, we would have gone to AAMI Stadium to play Port Adelaide in a Preliminary Final.
We would have had the best possible run at the Premiership this year (in terms of scheduling matches) had only Collingwood beaten Adelaide in Round 22.

Becoming very touchy the teflon is -- methinks he enjoys dishing it out but has trouble handling it when some comes back -- been watching our beloved saints wrecking themselves for the best part of my 63 years and teflon and tool4eva fit in that mould quite nicely -- tis all about ego and showing us all how knowledgeable they are --- the welfare of our beloved club is well down their care list -- every good wish
Please let me live long enough to see it happen.

Well, someone mentioned to me on Sat night that Geelong missed the finals altogether last year and fans were baying for blood!! Now they have re-grouped and galloped into top 2 the next season. This bloke reckons we could do the same thing. Hope he's right. Take a step back before charging forward!!??
I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.

Had we had Bakes, Max and Harves fit - we would have won the flag if we made the 8.
However without them (and Attard) we would have simply been too undermanned.
