sydney Bias in reporting- editing

Post: # 450745Post saintbrat »

recently in the magazine ALPHA - there was as tory about James Hird and pictures including one of him with his children after a match and the caption stated he was ' pitchside'
I have heard of 'ground' and 'field' and 'oval' and 'boundary' for AFL but never 'pitchside'-

now I found this on the new WWOS site- under the AFL link

http://wwos.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=291880
2007 AFL Table
when did the Ladder become a table :?

as with photo's - like the Thomas mix up in the Age and most of the summer with Ball listed as X Clarke- it shows their compelte ignorance of AFL but to me also lack fo care-

Ok it's the media and they rarely get it right BUT if they are after supporters attention they wont get it by being wrong with the basics.

And after naming a "Squad" our spare players then sit in the "Dugout" after the game "Kicks off".

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

Actually it's a growing trend.
The days of local news are over.

Now we have to sit through late evening news shows coming out of Sydney, like Channel 10's woeful "Rugby Tonight", and Chan 9's "Sydney Nightline".

They ignore Melbourne based news, unless something is huge, in which case they cross "down" to "our reporter in Melbourne".
And we get to hear what happened in the NSW parliament today.
What traffic disruptions occurred in the Sydney CBD.

They pretty much ignore AFL.
Their limited 1 minute coverage from a Sydney based reporter is usually after about 10 minutes reporting on a bunch of no-necked p00fter rugby morons.
Who cares !

Trouble is there is no alternative.
So the ratings are OK.
So the network executives think it is OK.
They are happy to save their dollars.

Personally I think we should boycott all nationalised news programs emanating from Sydney.

No, it's more insidious!

WE are now the StKilda Saints playing the Geelong Cats in the AFL competition which includes:-

Hawthorn Hawks
Collingwood Magpies
Carlton BLues
Adelaide Crows
North Melbourne Kangaroos
Richmond Tigers
etc

I always thought we were the StKilda Football CLub and our nickname was the Saints?
