Whooping it up at Football Park.
Later that night while we were waiting at the airport to go home the Crows flew back in from Melbourne. A group of about 50 Saints fans heckled them as they came through the airport. Oh the irony.

"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."
Listening to the game driving home from Hotham, interrupted the game because some pommy Sloane Ranger had been killed in Paris because of a pissed driver or something.
Boy was i pissed off.

Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Amen to that. They might not have put such a heavy tag on Harvey while McLeod would have been lucky to see out the first quarter if Laze had have fronted up that day.osama milne laden wrote:such a shame he didn't get to follow up on his 'they'd have to bring in the order off rule for the grand final the year after if i played in one' quote

Met Big Laz at the Moe races a while back. He told me then that Jarman would have finished the game in la la land on the way to hospital instead kicking freakish goals to sink us at the end!! Reckons he would have happily dropped back into the area Jarman was running poor old Shanas into and "whack" - all over for D. Jarman!! Result?? A Saints flag!!B W and R all over wrote:Amen to that. I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.

similar, driving and listening to the radio when the game was interupted. I got out of the car a mentioned it to a passing stranger who collapsed in tears. I felt the same. What was so special that they had to put off the broadcast of the game.joffaboy wrote:Listening to the game driving home from Hotham, interrupted the game because some pommy Sloane Ranger had been killed in Paris because of a pissed driver or something.

Was this in Sydney?
I didn't think Lazar was that well known in Sydney in '97.
... but then again maybe his brilliant helicopter goal in our win up there that year put him on the map ...

I was in Seattle (far north west of America) when Princess Di died - it was live breaking news there also!)....wasn't aware it was the same time as our last round match, but did make it back for the Brissie game at Waverley (1st vs 8th under the old final 8 system!)

Lazar the Amazer.
Or Video Vidovic.
He might have been a dodgy car salesman, but he was the key to our run of wins in 97.
He held his own in the ruck against anyone.
Allowed Spider to push forward and kick goals.
And he had that touch of mongrel about him.
We hadn't had a big-man enforcer since Big Carl, and we haven't had one since Lazar.
And he had some good skills in his own right.
Once he went down we were no longer in a position to exploit Spider's talents.
And once Spider went down we had to dredge up Troy Cook.
We were doomed !

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
