Kayne Pettifer
Hey I was just on the Richmond forum and they were talking up Pettifer as possible trade bait, I was wondering what if anything you would be willing to give up for him...
I am thinking something along the lines of a 2nd round draft pick and Sweeny and Brooks I doubt they would take it but they have a youth policy in at the moment so anything is possible. I think that Pettifer could be very handy for us... He would quite often be our 4th or 5th option in the forward line and he could be quite dangerous without the close attention he recieves at Richmond...
Any thoughts?

third rounder at the most, would be handy, depends on where our third round pick is. IF our third rounder is in the 50's then perhaps not but a late 60's then perhaps

Basically a similar player to Milne, except 2 years younger and has never kicked 50 goals in a season.
Can win more of the footy than Milne and is a better tackler in the forwardline.
Not as dangerous around the packs.
Someone on here (a normally reliable source, I forget who it was) posted about a month ago that St Kilda were seriously looking at Pettifer ...
Fourth round pick (#55 approx) + Barry Brooks
OR
Third round pick (#39 approx) ... would be slightly reluctant.
Small forwards don't win you matches. They add percentage.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

Being Selfish aint always that bad. Kayne would go ok in a saints jumper, would get better delivery and wouldnt have as good an opponent. He has some mongrel in him and can lay a tackle. Though you wouldnt want to giveup too much for him.super dooper wrote:I think he is a very selfish player and wouldnt want him at Stkilda!!
Depends how Sweeney would go compared to him i reckon. Nothing like Milne either.

I have also heard some bad things about his work ethich, laziness and selfishness but these are usually the sort of things that change when you go from being a big fish in a small pond to the botom of the totem pole. Apparently Pettifer has fallen out of favour a bit at Richmond and I would love to see him at St.Kilda, I believe under a real captain like Lenny rather than Johnson he could take that next step and find some consistency in his game.... But most importantly I think it would be great to have another, less predictable avenue to goal...
I would be disappointed if we didn't have a look and if this years draft is as weak as everyone claims it is now would be the time to go for him.

That's good point but it this phenomenon seems to affect him far less than it does to the likes of Voss and Milne...Superboot wrote:Played well against us earlier this season.
Would be very handy, but needs to play four quarters. Seems to burst into the game early and then fades.

I would rather make a play for Didak.
He is exactly what we need and I think Collingwood would look at trading him.
Aside from his indescretion this year, he also had a knee reconstruction over summer so he will be a better player next year.
Definitely worth a look!
As an aside, Geelong were offering Steve Johnson to every club at trade week last year for a 2nd round pick.
I was amazed at the time we would not have jumped at that.
No question we need a clever half forward to add versatility and some unpredictability to our forward line.
If Sampi was prepared to committ himself to football, he would be a cheap and talented acquisition as well.

Why would we want a contraversial figure such as didak at the club?
AND
why would we want someone with poor form and a bung knee?
yes you can argue that he will get better coming back from a reco, but why risk it?

As for Johnson I believe we made the right decision in not getting Johnson, I don't believehe would have been half as good for us as he has been for Geelong this year, That suspension was exactly what he needed and I don't believe we would have had the guts to give it to him. As for Didak we would have to give up too much for my liking, personally I would not want to give up any player in our top 25 or our first round draft pick and I can't imagine getting Didak with what is left over.ashjam wrote:I would rather make a play for Didak.

On another note apparently Russell Robertson is unhappy at Melbourne, Collingwood seem keen maybe we could beat them to it, Melbourne are screwed for a while now so Robertson couldn't be a serious part of their future plan, so he should be cheap

If Robertson is disgruntled at Melbourne, he would be a TERRIFIC pick-up for us. He also has something that our forward-line seems to lack - unpredictability. However, Pettifer would probably be the more likely option, and I would welcome him to the club. Always been a fan of his. I especially like the way that he leads up the ground and then quickly moves it on and kicks long, which is something not many of our players seem to be doing at the moment.

Have I time warped?

But personally I jsut wanted to know whether he had a clue about what he was talking about - he may actually, if he knew anyone with those traits, have been paying Kayne a compliment.
Depends which way you see it I guess.
While Kayne has been down this year slightly on last year I see him as a very handy player indeed.
He is averaging 16 possessions and 1.6 goals per game this year and in the last three years for the Tiges has played 22, 22 and 21 games so far this year.
Would place him straight into our team if he came across.
