Cant see why he wouldnt play on to be honest.
Geelong have shown what can happen the season after missing the finals unexpectedly.
In reality it was probably the season we had to have, slight rebuild with new coaching staff etc and different style of play - but its obvious that we are getting the hang of it now, and hopefully we can keep our half decent run with injuries going ( i know its not great, but its a hell of alot better than the first half of the season ) and our players can get a good pre-season under their belts - some of them for the first time in many, many years, if not ever.

I don't recall giving a guarantee on him playing on.plugger66 wrote:If Harvs doesnt play this week that doesnt guarentee he will play next year. He isnt the type of guy who will care if he has a send off game. He will play next year if he wants to. Simple as that.riccardo wrote:I would hope he will play on.
This year is no way to send off our best player ever.
I said I HOPED he would, didn't I?
Probably shouldnt have quoted you. Just stating what I think will happen. Sorry about that.riccardo wrote:I don't recall giving a guarantee on him playing on.plugger66 wrote:If Harvs doesnt play this week that doesnt guarentee he will play next year. you're right. such a humble champion and he's just as likely to say "enough" and walk away if he thinks it is time.plugger66 wrote:He isnt the type of guy who will care if he has a send off game. He will play next year if he wants to. Simple as that.
would be sad for his legion of fans if it happens that way ... but that's not a good enough reason for him to play on if he doesn't want to.
i thought he was struggling for a couple of weeks but in the fremantle game before he was injured it was still the same old harvs that we know so well.

Based on the fact that he's umming and aahing and appearing to be thinking about things and that he hasn't "spoken to Ross about it" etc etc.iwantmeseats wrote:based on what?Riewoldting wrote:Don't stress
He'll play in 2008
Of course he'll play on.
If Harvey was going to retire, it would be announced by the club about five weeks out from Round 22.
The greatest player in the history of this club is not just going to quietly announce his retirement a couple of weeks after the end of the season, Frankie Peckett style.
Despite his humility, I am sure he would like to be upfront and honest with the club and the fans about his intentions.
And if we were a decent chance for the finals, such an announcement would help spur the team on to greater heights in September. Staying mum would do nothing.
Just quietly I think that Harvey intends to continue playing for as long he can get a game until he wins a flag. Which is great, because that's what you play the game for.
His fitness is excellent, his body is susceptible but still very good, and his form is better than 75 per cent of the comp. More than convinced that Harvey will play on.
