Chris Judd ruled out!!!!!!
http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/ ... 22,00.html
WEST Coast superstar Chris Judd has been ruled out of tonight's clash against St Kilda as the Eagles try to nurse him through the rest of the season.
Judd visited his Melbourne surgeon yesterday for the second time in as many weeks over his on-going groin problems, and missed a light training session at the Junction Oval because the appointment time was changed.
Despite naming their captain in the line-up last night, Eagles insiders insist Judd will not play at Telstra Dome.
It will be the second straight match the Eagles have rested their mercurial midfielder.
He missed last weekend's clash against Richmond at Subiaco, having been noticeably restricted in the fortnight leading up to the match.
He gathered just 11 disposals against the Kangaroos at Telstra Dome a week earlier, a trip he also used to visit his Melbourne surgeon.
He had just 14 touches in the Round 18 loss to Fremantle.
These statistics have highlighted a frustrating second half of the season.
Tonight's match is crucial for the Eagles' hopes of a top-two finish, but Judd's welfare is of greater importance with the finals just a fortnight away.
Already dealing with the extended absence of Daniel Kerr who has undergone finger surgery, the Eagles welcome back star midfielder Ben Cousins from a hamstring strain.
Cousins trained well in the hour-long session yesterday.
Despite Judd's absence from training, assistant coach Peter Sumich yesterday claimed the Brownlow medallist was still a chance of playing.
"Ben is more likely to play and Chris, like I said, will have a fitness run tomorrow morning again and see how he pulls up," he said. "Juddy will be left to the last minute."
Sumich said Judd's injury would not deteriorate if he played. "Like we have always said, it's not getting any worse," he said.
Injuries to key players - Andrew Embley is also recovering from a hamstring strain - has seen punters jump off the Eagles like they were a sinking ship.
But Sumich said the reigning premiers remain a force.
"We still have some quality players running around. Embley will be back maybe next week or the week after," he said.
"Our forward line and defence have been terrific all year. We haven't mucked around with those two areas, but the area that has been affected has been our midfield."

Don't want to burst any balloons but this was on the HS website this morning, so it's not confirmed given other reports that indicate he was due to undergo a fitness test this afternoon... just take it with a pinch of salt (given it is the HS afterall) - not saying it isn't true either, just not confirmed
Caaaaaarn you Sainters!!

JUDD, COUSINS INTRIGUE CONTINUES
Friday, August 24th, 2007 at 1:53 pmBY STEPHEN BAKER
CHRIS Judd and Ben Cousins look likely to take their place against St.Kilda tonight at the Telstra Dome.
The pair trained strongly in a brisk twenty-minute session held earlier this afternoon and seemed confident about their fitness for tonight’s game.
TAB Sportsbet are offering punters $6.75 for the Eagles to beat St.Kilda by 39.5 points, while the Saints are $2.35 to win inside 39.5 points

Judd should be out (suspended ) for eye gouging for the next six weeks. What a farce that Campbell Brown got 15, 000 dollars for lying... Why did the tribunal not then suspend Judd on the light of new evidence that Brown WAS eyegouged
- I bet they would have re convened and gives bakes 12 weeks if it were him !!!

IMO Judd is more likely to play than Cousins: I suspect that the WCE would prefer to rest Cousins for another week, but will play him if Judd is out.
If he does play, Judd must be kept quiet early. The Eagles will presumably be planning to use him as an impact player, particularly in the first three quarters, hoping to build up a substantial lead and then rest him towards the end.
If Judd and Cousins are not contributing much, and without Kerr, the rest of the Eagles midfield will be psychologically vulnerable and we could quite unexpectedly get completely on top of them.

Because no new evidence is allowed in an appeal...even if the AFL were to appeal the sentence.supersaints wrote:Judd should be out (suspended ) for eye gouging for the next six weeks.
