Dear Archie and Roderick
Have just sent this e-mail (below) to the club at
"reception@saints.com.au"
Is there a better e-mail address ?
I urge all Saints fans to similarly lobby the club to
DO SOMETHING !!
=============================
Please pass on this message to Archie Fraser and Rod Butterss.
Gentleman,
I urge you to Please Please Please take this matter further.
We should take it to court.
The lack of evidence would NOT sustain a conviction in any fair court.
AND
we need to serve an immediate injunction on the AFL so Baker can play this week.
Similar to what the Swans did with Dunkley.
This is the third time Baker has been on the receiving end of a penalty that would simply not stand up in a court of law.
If the AFL cannot conduct a tribunal system that has any semblance of consistency and fairness, then it is perfectly reasonable that we go outside the system.
It is probably the only way we will ever see this outrageous system reformed.
PLEASE act urgently on this matter on behalf of all our supporters and all reasonable minded supporters of the game.
Yours sincerely,

My letter to Archie Fraser as follows:
Dear Archie Fraser,
Never have I been so bitter about the result of an appeal than I have with this one. I cannot express to you the disappoint I am feeling as a result of our 'failed' appeal on the 7 game suspension of Steven Baker. This second refusal by the AFL tribunal to acknowledge such a blatantly obvious injustice cannot be ignored and must be, by every means at the disposal of the St.Kilda Football Club, followed up through external legal proceedings!
As a loyal member of the St.Kilda Football Club I would welcome this action, as many other of the St.Kilda faithful would, with welcome arms.
Strength Through Loyalty,

Maybe it is the best time to send it, but I don't think it is
They are really good letters peoples, you show a lot of passion and love for the St Kilda footy club... We are very lucky to have such loyal and loving supporters

Dear Archie and Rod,
In the future can we please employ legal representation with a proven track record of success at the AFL tribunal. This isn't the first time we have shot ourselves in the foot due to inappropriate instruction. I'm surmising that whilst the people we have employed have been brilliant in courtroom presentation, they possibly have not understood the minefield that is the AFL tribunal.

It is highly likely that instruction was given..........but did bakes say it in his own words(poorly chosen?)..........or just said certain things under the pressure of evidence...Grimfang wrote:Dear Archie and Rod,

Has it been said or written anywhere that Bakes was instrcted to say his evidence exactly as given.....
Whether we like it/agree his evidence basically hunghimself.....
One of my biggest beefs is the fact that it was sent to the Tribunal in the first place based on the evidence (But must be said that was reliant on what read/said in media)
Plenty of other examples not sent to tribunal because of evidence(lack of)

To whom it may concern.
You should have bloody well known that an appeal in itself would do NOTHING.
If we drop the matter now, then we must incur the wrath of an all-powerful AFL that feels both disrespected, and confident that the St Kilda football club is all talk and no action.
The only suitable course of action from this point is to get all Collingwood on their arse, and prove that when the St Kilda Football Club says something is not right, we have the courage of our convictions to take it all the way to the courts to prove it.
Perhaps instead we can now look forward to another unofficial four point penalty this weekend against West Coast?

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.

Archie Fraser was good enough to reply to my e-mail posted above ....
I have highlighted his key point.
And whilst still fuming at the injustice of this process I think it is time to move on.
Focus our anger to success on the field.
================================
David,
First of all thank you for your email and for your support.
We are all bitterly disappointed at the outcome of this week's events
with Bakes at the tribunal.
Once a position of admission, all be that under extensive cross
examination had been set, it was going to be very difficult if not
impossible to challenge the tribunal decision and ruling.
We are still considering our options; however our legal advice from our
QC and our legal team is that our chances of winning a further challenge
through the legal system would be remote at best.
We have an enormous game tonight that we want to be 100% focussed on
delivering a win, for Bakes, the club, our members and all Saints
supporters.
We have not released an official statement as yet; however I wanted to
respond to your email in person,
Get behind us tonite and let's get another win on the board as we march
into the finals,
Regards
Archie

Yeah, with them at the helm! Aren't they the ones who've stuffed up Baker in the first place??? I'd say get rid of them and get some competent ones in! COMPLACENCY!Enrico_Misso wrote: however our legal advice from our

1) Who "advised" Baker to incriminate himself? Should be sacked immediately.
2) If difficult or not impossible to challenge the tribunal decision and ruling why piss $5k up against the wall?
Pissweak effort all round STKFC.
Well done AFL you have bent the Saints over once more and through cowardice and incompetence this admin has complied.
Waste of farken space the lot of them

Great effort to ellicit a response from our club. Too bad it doesn't really address your argument for further action and definitely highlights no intent to pursue this based on QC comment.Enrico_Misso wrote:Archie Fraser was good enough to reply to my e-mail posted above ....

Whilst Bakes has probably been burnt on this, I am still fuming about the lack of consistent process in this matter. In fact, the only consistent theme so far is that their intent to sideline Baker for 7 weeks.
Has anyone had a response form the club on the mis-mananged process at past tribunals. I doubt it. I also doubt if the tribunal will admit to past rulings being wrong despite their stance now.
I am disgusted by the code of conduct here from a supposedly organised and creditable authority on our game. There are just too many precedents that differs to this case that the only conclusion I can come too is bias by this group to send a message at all cost.
I am particularly mad about another incident by another AFL player a year or so ago, who also has a poor record, but managed to stay clear of penalties depsite visible evidence. The reason was that the vision "was not clear". How clear was it this time? How was the intent measured? How does anyone who shepherds stay clear of charges, if an injury to the opposition player occurs.
Just another loop hole in my opinion. GGRRRR
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
