Who fills Baker's shoes?
I can't see Stevie getting much out of this appeal (if anything).
My guess is the best result he'd get would be that his suspension gets reduced from 7 to about 5 weeks because of the lack of evidence against him.
We don't have the sway and $$$ for the best lawyers (or QC's) money can buy like certain mollycoddled clubs
If Bakes' season is over, who takes up the new roll as tagger?
The rest of the squad just doesn't seem to fit the mould.
Can anyone remember the last time(s) we have played without him?
Perhaps, with the weagles missing Judd, Kerr and Cousins a tagger isn't all that necessary after all?

We beat the Swnas but then lost to the Hawks in THAT game where we virtually had no one to picka team from.

I don't think that will be the case, I'm pretty sure it will be all or nothing.Sainternist wrote:I can't see Stevie getting much out of this appeal (if anything).

He'll either get off or it should stay the same.

Ball
L Fisher
Are you 3 main options to play as midfield taggers...
thommo??? how bad is his injury??? Is out for now...but IF we make the finals may be an option.
Blake was used on Crawford...and can be an option where the targetted mid is not real quick.
Though remember that Bakes often played as small defender this year...of which we havea number of options including the above.
BUT NOT Voss...his time as a backmen is GONE.....any small forward he would be on would most likely be too quick for him.... Leave Voss as a marking small forward as he hasa knack of kicking goals.

Re: Who fills Baker's shoes?
You always want at least one tagging option in your 22 as an opposition player (for example Priddiss) can be on fire having a day out....if so you want an option to try and shut that player down.Sainternist wrote:

Heard Chick on the radio this morning. He reckons only one of Judd or Cousins will play.homework wrote:cuzo and judd look like playingsaintsRrising wrote:You always want at least one tagging option in your 22 as an opposition player (for example Priddiss) can be on fire having a day out....if so you want an option to try and shut that player down.Sainternist wrote:

Would Love for Mini to come into the side, especially against the eagles. Difficult to do so, especially off a 5 day break.
As for who takes Bakes' opponent, it's quite simple.
1st Tier Taggers (i.e. sacrifice their entire offensive game for the tag) - Attard + L. Fisher
2nd Tier Taggers (i.e. play with some accountability) - Ball, Birss, Baker
3rd Tier Taggers (i.e. play head-to-head but can still negate) - Hayes, Harvey.
However, to get the same level of 'tag' that Bakes puts out, you would have to replace him with a 1st tier tagger. This lowers the overall potency of our mids, which is the biggest problem with losing Bakes (of the 2007 variety).
