St Kilda Football Club has confirmed it will appeal Steven Baker's seven-week suspension.
The tenacious Saints tagger was found guilty last night by the AFL tribunal of engaging in rough conduct, despite there being no video footage of the incident involving Fremantle's Jeff Farmer.
Farmer went off late in the second-quarter of the Round 20 match with facial injuries and suspected concussion, and took no further part in the game.
St Kilda has appealed on several grounds, including that having accepted Steven Baker's account of the incident — which was supported by other witnesses — the tribunal should not have found Baker guilty or suspended him.
The appeal will be heard at 5.30pm tomorrow at AFL headquarters in Melbourne.

It definitely will - it has in the past when we've appealed (can't remember if it was Baker or someone else??)Otiman wrote:Hopefully the team selection includes Baker as in the side.
St.Kilda want to try and get him off completely - failing that the penalty reduced from the absurd 4 weeks (not including added bonus weeks!) to something a bit more reasonable.....
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.
Penalty reduction is virtually useless. All those carry over points and bad-record loadings will still apply, so he'd still be out for the next 4 weeks even if it was reduced to 1 week for Farmer staggering into him drunkenly.
Overturned or bust I say.

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.
