Injury update and venue change!
http://realfooty.com.au/news/news/injur ... 42686.html
ST KILDA could have kept its finals hopes alive by beating Fremantle at Telstra Dome yesterday, but victory came at a heavy cost, with Robert Harvey, Max Hudghton and Luke Ball forced off the ground with thigh injuries and Steven Baker likely to face the tribunal.
Harvey is unlikely to make the trip to Subiaco Oval for Friday night's crucial game against West Coast, while Hudghton's prognosis appears more serious after re-injuring the thigh that sidelined him from round two.
Coach Ross Lyon rated Harvey only a slim chance to play on Friday night, but described Hudghton's injury as "significant" and said the defender had "clearly pinged something" early in the first term.
Ball could also be in doubt for Friday night after badly corking a thigh. The co-captain had his left thigh heavily bandaged yesterday but returned to the field and was able to run out the game.
As well as counting injuries, Lyon might have to find a replacement for Baker — the only other player anywhere near Jeff Farmer when the Fremantle player suddenly slumped to the ground, dazed and unable to regain his feet.
The AFL match review panel is likely to investigate the incident, which happened near the middle of the ground midway through the third term. As Baker jogged away, Farmer lay motionless before being helped from field by two trainers. Farmer had kicked two goals in the second term, but after the incident, was unable to return to the ground.
While Fremantle confirmed that Farmer had facial bruising and concussion, Lyon defended Baker.
"I've spoken to Steven Baker and he said, 'I've done nothing to worry about, Ross', so as far as I know Steven Baker played out a game and Farmer went off," Lyon said.
Asked if he knew how Farmer had been hurt, Lyon said he had not seen the incident.
"That happens on footy fields," he said. "We've won (and) Baker said to me, 'I've done nothing that's reportable', so we'll let the authorities — if anyone's concerned with the incident — deal with it."
Fremantle caretaker coach Mark Harvey was seething about the loss, which puts the Dockers out of finals contention, but equally angry about Farmer's injuries.
"All I know is he's concussed and we couldn't bring him back on the ground," Harvey said.
He said the Dockers had shown good form heading into yesterday's game but failed to stand up to the challenge when St Kilda increased its attack on the ball.
"When they were kicking the ball around the ground and opening up their forward line, I thought we let that happen too easily," Harvey said.
St Kilda forward Fraser Gehrig booted eight goals — his best return for the season — but Harvey felt the Dockers simply failed to apply enough pressure in defence.
After pushing into the eight for the first time since round four, Lyon said the Saints' position "could be fleeting but it beats being out".
"You've got to earn your spot; we've earned it today and we'll aim to earn it next week, but our destiny is clearly in our own hands," he said.
Lyon praised Gehrig, who has battled injury and the flu this year yet managed to kick 54 goals — just 12 fewer than his season tally last year. "'G' commanded the ball pretty well today," he said.
Justin Koschitzke, a late withdrawal with soreness, is expected to be available for Friday night's game against the Eagles.

Yes we have played WCE 21 times
9 home
12 away
So as per Dimwits "level playing field" policy it would make more sense to get it out to 9-13.
That would be consistent with the 7-12 Home-Away Freo "level playing field" draw.

We have played Freo over there EVERY year.
From 96 to 2007
12 times.
In that same period we played WCE over there 10 times.
The years we missed out on were 2002 and 2004
Of more interest is that we didn't have a HOME (incl Yoork Park Tasmania) game against Freo in 96, 98, 99, 200, 01, 03.
Similarly for WCE in 97, and 2005.

This "FIX"ture is a bit of a bug-bear of mine and has been for some time.
Since 1997 (the first season with the current 16 teams) we have made the following interstate trips:
* Perth 20 times (the most of any club other than the two WA teams)
* Adelaide 11 times
* Sydney 10 times
* Brisbane 10 times
Total of 51 interstate trips.
Collingwood have made the following interstate trips:
* Perth 9 times (the least of ANY club - the next best is 14)
* Adelaide 17 times
* Sydney 9 times
* Brisbane 8 times
Total of 43 interstate trips.
Why do the other clubs let the AFL/Collingwood continually get away this this?

Because that's the way it has to be, If the AFL is to stay aflot they need to bring in the big $$ and that is done by letting Collingwood play in victoria more often, especially when we were a crap team I would have rather been playing Collingwood at home and Freo away, now that we are a serious team I would rather it be different but it's just the way the league works...Life Long Saint wrote:This "FIX"ture is a bit of a bug-bear of mine and has been for some time.
