Not his job to be defensive.
Part of the reason we won was Dal's willingness to take risks.
He was tagged all day, and I thought he at least broke even.
He is still only 24 years old ... hasn't missed a game for three years ... and is improving all the time.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

Ranked 32 in what.....the AFL?????
so on average in the best two at each club, yes.....I think you will find he is right at the top at St.K....for 07........as he was in 06....
yes it is an indicator of defensive work rate....tackle count...the indicator of accountibility would be direct opponent stats - how many did M.Carr get today???? often he does not have to go to far to pick up his opponent, he is generally right up Dal's arse...

great thing about dal this year is his work rate, he is getting to more contests and working hard to get into space. Will only get better as well.

It is players like NDS that can weave some magic to break the floods.
Look no further than his carry from a centre clearance to goal from 48m in the second quarter.
Forget Milne's pot shot, the NDS special was the goal of the day.
A gamebreaking goal.
Players with his skills don't have to be super defensive as he can do much more damage than his opponent.

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Wow Bono - I couldn't DIS-agree with you more..... I have been a Dal critic in the past - but in my eyes- he's clearly moving into the elite half-dozen in the competition.....
Question anyone......... is there a better midfielder in the AFL than Dal, outside of the WCE??

Agree that NDS is super and all that but Kudos to Fiora for that goal IMO, took some body preassure and delayed the release of the ball until Dal was in exactly the right spot.Enrico_Misso wrote:It is players like NDS that can weave some magic to break the floods.

i'd be appalled if dal tried to become an "accountable" robot type of player
he is what he is ... a creative and offensive weapon. make them match up on him ffs.
i agree with whoever said his goal today was a game-breaker. took all the wind out of freo's sails and after that it was simply a matter of time.
on his way to being a champion

Every week, Dal Santo is constantly under pressure to perform.
He's a quality player, and no wonder he gets tagged.
The fact that he can create space, do things with the footy most can only dream of is a credit to the club.
Dal mixes hard work with silky smooth skills.
Personally, have no idea how anyone could think he was being unaccountable.
And even on the off-chance he has a bad day at the office, just ask the question, how many other quality players have off days.
He is human after all.
