Raffel Tickets
Anyone buy a raffle ticket today and feel ripped off.... They used to be good drawn on the day prizes but not over the top. Now we have a scratchy to go in a draw, to win a car.... Now here the catch once you win the draw you have a 1 in 250 chance to win the car from there.....
I feel ripped off, even thou I didn't buy the tickets to win something. Anyone else feel this way?

Don't take me as gospel, but I read somewhere it's only around 30% that gets to the club.ausfatcat wrote:really? The only reason I buy them is the money going to the club... Oh well never again if they dont get much of it.Oh When the Saints wrote:Don't buy 'em.
Hardly any of the money gets to the club, and the ticket sellers aren't Saints supporters ... just random people looking for low-paid work.
Better off just buying an extra membership IMHO and never buying a raffle ticket ...
They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

Im glad someone started a thread on this..was gonna emntion it in the Member Services thread
Those raffle ticket sellers are without doubt THE most irritating aspect of a day at the footy. They raise stuff all money for the COub and are intrusive and perstering to the point of extreme annoyance.
I saw 2 of them today actually walking alongside patrons as they walked along the footbridge, not taking no for an amswer. The line they form across the footbridge would put a Rugby team to shame.
Surely we can investigatye other revenue streams, and be the team that doesnt employ this company to annoy the bejesus out of arriving patrons?

The club only gets about 25% of the revenue.
The other 75% goes to the ticket sellers and the company that organises the raffles.
I never give them anything.
Best policy is to have a headphone on and pretend you don't hear them.

yeah!
the tickets are $2.50 each? $0.50c goes to the sellers and they are NOT all saints fans!
i see the same people every week at gate 3 at the MCG working. there is a lady who is always there and she does the tickets for the Kangas, Hawks, Dees, Tigers, Pies and Dons.
i have never asked her who she follows, but she has told me that she gets $0.50c out of every ticket and because of her age she gets a bit extra. also, she has told me the truth and said not to much of the money goes towards the club.
i also asked a man who had a saints tattoo on is arm, and he also said that sh!t all of the money goes towards the club!
they are very nice people, but your money doesnt go to wherever it says on the card!
a bit off subject, but also the AFL shop behind the goals TD, (the southern Cross station end), if you buy a $100 saints jumper there 30% of that money gos to the saints, (dont ask what that end up being because i am shocking at maths) and some go's to the people working there etc... and the rest goes to the CLUB that owns the shop, who is ESSENDON! so when you buy something from there a good 45% of your money is going to the lovely lovely essendon

Actually some good news from the concourse.
The Classical Gas man seems to have learnt a new song.
I didn't quite catch what it was.
But it definitely WASN'T Classical Gas

SaintDooley,
If something sells for $100 then you can assume it costs the shop selling it around $50. So there is only $50 of gross profit left to be divided up.
From that $50 profit comes the rent for the shop and the wages for the staff, as well as all the other costs involved in running the shop.
SO if we (Saints are making 30% of the sale price - in this case $30) then we are making good money for not actually running the shop.
I'm not sure your figure of 30% is accurate?

well, that was all just a guess! maybe not 30%, but i do know that the dons owne the shop...well they did 2 years ago, and i doubt they would pass it off to another club, so they probably still owne it!Mr Magic wrote:saintdooley wrote:yeah!

Try asking those raffle sellers who their favourite player is, and watch them try and think to name one.
I hate them, a couple of weeks back I though 'Yes, i've past them' and they go through the lines of the turnstiles trying to sell them.
Irritating.
And I'm sure there are alot of people that think that the money is going to the club.
