Dear Ross
If you cannot win us some games.
Please look alive, and speak as if you are positive.
In this day of media, we all hang on every word you say.
Unfortunately your next job might be for some sleep disorder company.
Ross, I hope you prove me wrong and stickit right up me, by delivering the holy grail.
But with a team scoring less goals than man united, a prez at war with the ex., a coach who is more boring than a nun. Where is my club going?

Listen to his press conference from Tuesday.
He was funny, relaxed, confident, lucid and sounded strong and enthusiastic.
Really, compared to Mark Thompson he is an absolute star performer in the media.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.
gramophone, I know reults are what counts, but on saturday evening after the game with a tent full of members and sponsors, he could and should have shared a few positive words.( not sunk back against a wall looking in need of a bottle of proxac).
We members and sponsors pay his way.

I don't really care how he presents in the media. That will come with time.
As long as the players are behind him and ....errrr we stop playing like crap !
I think that we'll see a major improvement next season.

I would have thought that the term somebody would be a fairly generic term that refers to a group or large number of people not just one individual. However in the future I will start a whole new thread for one point if it does not directly relate to the heading of the original post.TimeToShineFellas wrote:How about you start by addressing this to the playing staff?rexy wrote:Somebody do something....please.

Sorry to have obviously offended you.
Maybe this year?

Well it doesn't appear to be does it? We have a great list and yet we're playing like a pack of disinterested retards. I don't see ANY evidence that he is able to get the players 'fired up' at all.gramophone***111 wrote:Have to agree that what Ross presents to the media is pretty uninspiring for a supporter but is his rapport and ability to get the players fired up better? Why? What will be different next year? Will RL suddenly decide to play an attacking brand rather than a 'lock down' defensive brand that 'works for Sydney so it must be good'?satchmo wrote:I think that we'll see a major improvement next season.
Face it - RL is going in a different direction, he wants us to play a Sydney style of game, which will probably take 5 years for us to master, by which time we will have lost all of our current stars, most of our supporters and most of our TV coverage.
Then we still have to try and 'out-Sydney Sydney', playing this fugly game that everyone hates. Imagine that, a Saints-Sydney GF. Spectacular huh.
Maybe I'm losing the plot, but I'm really worried about RL and what he wants to do to us.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.

Do I like Ross Lyon? Yes. Do I think he is the greatest media performer in the world? Perhaps not. Do I think the way he asks himself both the questions and answers when being 'interviewed' is an effective technique for controlling the agenda? At times. Am I a bit sick of it? Yes.

Was thinking the same thing the other day, bit like he always says, "that's the reality of AFL football"

the previous coach wasnt exactly awe inspiring either i remeber a game last year agains essendon i think when a 3qtr time they showed sheedy rally the troops together getting them all fired up and then they showed our boys lookinf dissintrested and the coach just running through the motions - we got over ran in that game too - so maybe its just our guys dont respond to the rev up ?!?!Well it doesn't appear to be does it? next year RL will have a full preseason to trade and draft he will know the players more intimatly he will also be a year wiser on whats required to be a coach and the players will hopefully rally behind him from the start of the year the game plan may sink in and he may ever tweek the plan some more to suit our style more .Why? What will be different next year? Will RL suddenly decide to play an attacking brand rather than a 'lock down' defensive brand that 'works for Sydney so it must be good'?
but heck who knows what the future brings [/quote]

I like him in the media.
Different kind of cat.
What I don't like is our players fighting to get the ball forward in the last quarter and finding only Steven Milne in the forward fifty- with two on him.
Three times! Don't like that much at all.

one of the bravest and saddest parts of the collingwood game was fiora riding a hard bump to intercept the ball, run 50 to 60 metres with three pies scragging him, bumping him, he burnt them off, only to finally get intercepted and kick the ball over for the throw in.
even if we had milne int he forward line with 2 pies on him it would have given us some sort of chance.
