I was one of those who liked the 150th crest/logo with the laurel leaves underneath. Thought it was a slight improvement. Hopefully this new "improvement" will be along those lines.

That crest has been worn on the guernseys for the last 91 years and is sacred to most of us lifelong supporters. What gets my goat is that the club didn’t even consult us about it.
The club is claiming they consulted with members, can anyone confirm if they were consulted?

Replacement of ST. K.F.C. with ST KILDA is probably motivated by the fact that we're sponsored by Red Rooster, not KFC.

How do this make us better as a club - how does it get us closer to our second premiership?

Before any decision is ever made at stk

Those two questions should be asked!!!

If the answer to either 1 is no

It’s a wast of time and resources

Brand recognition and brand strengthening improve the club.

Marketing is critical in modern day footy.

St Kilda have the third best merchandise revenue per member ratio in the competition.

This is not the place to start bringing logic and reason into the conversation. This site is about flying off the handle about the little things, and dying on that hill.

I reckon one change will be to have the motto in English.
(Maybe include a Euro Yuroke translation for indigenous round).
I think there may also be a change to play down any crusader connotations and to move From the "KFC" link*. Maybe St Kilda written in full. ("Football Club" may be redundant).
My gratuitous guesses.

* not compatible with sponsor Red Rooster.

The motto has been removed completely. You're right about "St Kilda" though.

I didn’t realise marketing was so important in modern day footy.

Do we have a line coach who specialises in it?

It must be our secret weapon as I haven’t heard Ross mention it in his weekly pressers.

When we win our second premiership I hope the marketing department get a medal too.

I know you are being half sarcastic, but the club does have a marketing department.

Bringing money in to the club is important. Not just for selling merch, but being attractive to new supporters and sponsors.

As much as I like the logo/crest, we can't keep it forever. Just need to hope the new one still looks good

We don't have a line coach for marketing, but the St Kilda Footy Club has a large, dedicated marketing team, responsible for everything from merchandise and apparel, to social media and game day experience - like most businesses.

Very few businesses are successful without effective marketing. It may surprise you, but the three clubs with the strongest marketing departments and largest merchandise revenue (Collingwood, West Coast & Richmond) have won five of the last 8 premierships.

Ross may not mention marketing, but if you pay close attention to his weekly pressers, you'll see marketing everywhere. On his shirt, on the backdrop, in the video intros and outros.

Good marketing = strong brand. Strong brand = strong sponsorship. Combined, they all equal off field success. Off field success breeds on field success.

You'll find that we don't have line coaches for finance, legal, logistics, procurement, health & safety, analytics, membership, customer service, media, event management, administration, and recruitment - but all are critical within a football club, so best they're effective.

You may be surprised to know some of the most successful global organisations very rarely modify their logos, if they do its a colour enhancement or removing/adding a word.

The only purpose for our club to make mods is income generation. NO ONE gives a sh1te about our logo or crest mods. It has no value to the team, culture, community, the league.

Its all about $$$$$$$$$

I don’t mind the new GC logo and jersey for them. Massive improvement on the previous one. Same with the Crows one.
Ours drops the day before the draft. Looking forward to the new FRDP’s to be handed the jersey with the new logo on it.

Now get ready for the melts online from everyone complaining about the changes.

I don't mind the design, but red on red looks terrible personally.

The away colours look ok, but on tv that red on red is going to be too much I think.

Suns have f***ed up badly. You won't see the logo. The idiots should have made it yellow. Sums up a s*** fabricated team.

Bizarre choice by the Suns. Their away guernsey is even worse. Run by clowns.

I like the emblem, but the red on red is an odd choice.

I like Adelaide’s logo and agree with most that the Sun’s emblem is good but a peculiar colour choice

The emblem is quite clever but doesn’t work on that background because there’s no contrast.

The club logo works.

The clash jumper looks crap.

Crows logo is fine and don’t know what the fuss is about but it’s Adelaide so who gives AF.

If Adelaide were serious, the emblem should be a church and the creature a carp, swimming in brackish hard water.
Bty, Maggie's are more common in SA than crows but that totem is taken.
Have seen seagulls and pigeons at Adelaide Oval mainly near the Riscutto stand, not so much Crows. Then again have never seen Lions in Brisbane Mall or Kangaroos at Arden St.
