I still think we targetted the wrong bloke

We should have gone for Kennedy from Carlton. As well as having the capability to do the job of an inside mid he offers something different with his ability to play forward.

Putting aside the difference in salary between the 2 players, it's interesting that the Dogs were prepared to offload Mcrae for a mid-third round pick but they were willing to forego a late-second round pick for Kennedy.

At the end of the day after moving on Bailey Smith and Caleb Daniel, the Dogs weren't struggling to fit Mcrae in their salary cap. They just thought Kennedy is better than Mcrae for the next 3 years.

Let's see in 2-3 years time which player is still playing good footy for their new teams
