Mr. Fox is the man ... worth billions
If he wants to leave a legacy, then this is it, not his trucking empire
Liaise with the state & federal governments
60,000 seat stadium, painted & lit up red, white, black
Adjustable panelling at each end (opened when we are kicking with the wind, closed when not)

200 seats for opposition clubs (top deck on the wing)
Free saints flags for all kids
Northern cheer squad at one end, Southern cheer squad at other end

Retractable roof that actually opens/closes so we can prepare for finals at Marvel, MCG, etc.
6 to 8 games against interstate teams & Geelong (SEE HOW THEY FXXXXING LIKE IT !)
Guaranteed finals very year
We can pick & choose which free agents we will bring in

Rejig one of the Ross Gregory, Harry Trott, Ian Johnson Ovals, or two or all three for training
Also for car parking (players & staff)
Overpass walkway over Lakeside drive

ANZAC (new), Windsor & Prahran train stations
Stadium can be used for concerts, other activities, etc. not interfering with the AFL season
Overpass walkway over St. Kilda & Queens roads

Buy Abert Park Golf Club, turn it into a transport car park for buses and a pitch & putt :)
Also a massive AFL store & huge kids play ground

Massive electronic billboard(s) near the junction, how many vehicles drive past every day ?

Let's go Saints !!

... and set up a day care centre :)

Saint58. Love your work

Could we add playing the Saint Kilda theme song after every goal along with fireworks?

Hi Lindsay, the JO is the go

We left there in 65 because it was a cricket ground
This has to be the oddest and yet most annoying meme ever..

All football grounds are based on cricket grounds.

The MCG has cricket games in it, as do almost ever other football ground in the AFL heartland.

One big difference is that most pitches are drop in nowadays

Not the JO yet

Now, in 2014, Cricket Victoria we’re ready to share.

1965 ?

Nevermind.

Moorabbin is nice

But St Kilda needs to be in St Kilda IMO, for the long term sustainability of the club

And in St Kilda, we have by dint of our name, a city within a city, a unique and culturally iconic part of Melbournes landscape, well connected and well known

Sorry Moorabbin, it’s nice to be back, but we need to keep looking forward.

Please folks, for once let’s just put this,

It’s a cricket ground
It’s a dump
I don’t like it
I didn’t like it

Park that in the far corner with other low value hard rubbish

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

While we’re at it

Why don’t the Bonbers go back to Windy Hill, the Hawks to Glenferrie and let’s play games at Punt Road, Western Oval, Princes Park and of course the Jnction!!!

Let’s play 6 games on a Sat at 2 o’clock and buy Duffle Coats and put badges on them

You say, look forward but want to go back to the past!

Imaginary land

Junction Oval - I’m sure the Premier Cricket clubs would love footballers training pre season on the ground! Sure AFL coaches would love a Centre Square as hard as a goats forehead for training

It will NEVER happen

RCC moved out of Punt Road to Central
EFC moved out of Windy Hill to Tullamarine
Geelong CC and Carlton CC both play on ovals outside the main stadium
Collingwood CC moved to Camberwell
North Melbourne CC moved to Greenvale
Casey South Melbourne play on a different ground to VF and AFL

Guess who plays at ‘the junction’ and they aren’t going anywhere StKFC and CV

To think we can share a facility is naive

On the MCG
1) no team is based there during the week or train there
Only captains runs on Fridays sometimes
2) has a drop in Centre Square

Yea sorry I did forget to add ... CV out, don't care where just out

The bottom line is if we want to grow this club, become one of the big boys then we have to do something different, something big

Otherwise we will just be making up the numbers
So just shut the club down & I'll have less stress & anxiety from March to September
I'll go to some games & just watch footy & I'll probably live longer

Doing the same thing (year after year), & expecting a different result is pointless

Which big club plays at a boutique stadium?

They play at the G

Or in Essendons case Marvel

Essendon don’t play or train in Essendon
Hawthorn doesn’t play or train in Hawthorn

It’s a folly to think it’s important

Geelong plays at a regional stadium - stadium not park or oval.

Not sure capacity but it’s a few

Geelong is a city in its own right

Which Melbourne club?!

Read my post
I said 60,000 seat stadium
I did not say “boutique” stadium

Bowls club drove the Bummers out. (How bizarre.)
Glenferrie Oval. Was always a post stamp, but have you been there lately? The swimming pool has taken a chunk out of the forward line.
Western Oval? I don't know why they don't do it. Maybe because of the Ballarat thing? But I can't see Ballarat lasting.
Poo Park. I beieve that Carlscum have been considering it.

6 games at 2pm(ish) wearing duffle coats??? Now you're finally talking' B.M. :D

I think you might have started arguing against yourself on a few of those points Martin. You wrote...

However, you then point out that...
RCC moved out of Punt Road to Central
EFC moved out of Windy Hill to Tullamarine
Geelong CC and Carlton CC both play on ovals outside the main stadium
Collingwood CC moved to Camberwell
North Melbourne CC moved to Greenvale
Casey South Melbourne play on a different ground to VFL and AFL
So, seems that the cricket clubs wouldn't have to worry about the footy team training on the 'cricket' ground pre-season. And the AFL clubs wouldn't have to worry about training on "a goat's forehead" either. (We could use the Trott Oval just over the road from the JO.

But then, you already knew all that. It's been covered numerous times before in these threads.

Not sure of the relevence of the MCG to this(?)

The MCG surface has to weather a lot more games, and events (like concerts), than the JO.

And the JO has never had a drop in pitch. Maybe, because it's never needed one...?

Which Melbourne club?!
Geelong as a regional city has a population of ~290,000.

The Bayside City council alone has a population of 102,000. And that's just one council in our heartland, a heartland that extends to the tip of the Mornington Peninsula. So, we have the 'population' base.

Kardinia Park currently holds 40,000.
But heres the thing,
in the 2000s Geelong netted (not grossed) $800K per home game at Kardinia Park.
Average crowd - 26,000.

Meanwhile, we played a home match at Dockedlands against the Swines. 26,000 punters attended.
Our take? ~$73K... which we paid to Dockedlands!!!

This is not pie-in-the-sky stuff.

Move to the JO and play boutique home games there...
- We actually make a profit from those home games.
- We win more games.
- We therefore make more finals series.
- We attract more players, and without having to pay them overs.
- We get more members.
- We attract heaps more sponsors.
- We become very bloody relevant!
- We become the league powerhouse that we always should have been.
- We win that second flag. We win premierships.

It is ridiculous Dave

Not going to happen, not in my lifetime, not ever.

1/ who’s paying for it?!

2/ if you said where is the actual heartland of our supporters (not that it makes FA difference) it would be smack bang in the middle of Bayside Melbourne around Moorabbin to Cheltenham definitely not in StK

3/ isn’t Trott oval StKCC 2nd oval? My son played there this season. Every Premier club has 2 ovals.

4/ why do we need to move from Moorabbin
