Finn Callaghan
Apparently we’re keen on getting the 21yo midfielder from GWS. His contract is up next year. Can only imagine he would fit nicely into our midfield then.

Local bayside kid. I often bump into into his grand dad and I joked with him 2 weeks ago about Finn coming to St kilda

We tried when he came out of contact a couple of years ago. He chose to stay at GWS.

Would be very costly as far as a trade goes, would be worth 1-1.2M imo

I think he played well against us in the EF last year.

Re: Finn Callaghan
Yes please, but I think we are dreaming.
GWS would want two first rounders.
If he’s out of contract one first and a second may get it done.

Re: Finn Callaghan
I used to look forward to the trade period. every year, even though it's always a slow, drawn out saga that keeps you waiting until the end to find out if our club has done well with their pick ups or if we've proven our incompetence yet again.
I find the whole thing tiresome now, all because it's been hijacked by the media who, in the lead up to the actual event, just make crap up in order to give themselves press time.
When does Trade Radio start?

Agree there's no point speculating or giving it any thought. Just wait for the results and focus on other stuff for a while.

Re: Finn Callaghan
No arguments there. I just thought there’d be no harm sharing this piece speculation. Would be great if it does eventuate for us. He really does seem like the type we need in our midfield.bobmurray wrote: ↑Wed 18 Sep 2024 8:01pm I used to look forward to the trade period. every year, even though it's always a slow, drawn out saga that keeps you waiting until the end to find out if our club has done well with their pick ups or if we've proven our incompetence yet again.

Re: Finn Callaghan
Get this guy. Finn is exactly the type we need. Strong, explosive, skilled and young. He is at the same stage of his career Jack Steele was when we lured him to us.
We've seen enough of him to know he is the perfect prospect.
He will cost a bit, but I trust SOS and Gubby will work something out. Rather than Merrett, Holmes, Tom Green, etc. who are unobtainable, give FC a go.
He would instantly add depth to our midfield group and give us that explosive presence. As the old Yabbie used to say, "Are you prepared to pay the price? Don't be like the boy who bought the cheap shoes and regretted it when they wore out too soon. Buy the better, more expensive, high quality pair. So, will you pay the price!?"
Do it, sainters!

Re: Finn Callaghan
Tend to agree with most… if this is a possibility then pay the cost to make it happen.
We have draft picks to get elite players… if we rate him, trade them to get an elite player

What about either of these. Do they get it done and would we be happy.

Option 2 (if more expensive)

Can't see him leaving GWS. He is Josh Kelly's replacement.

Re: Finn Callaghan
I have it on very good authority that Finn Callaghan is very happy in Sydney and loves playing for the Giants
He would only return to Melbourne at the end of next year if there was a significant money gap in the contract offers which is unlikely- he wants to stay in Sydney

1.2m a year for 7yrs would test his loyalty, write the cheque out and go knock on his door!magnifisaint wrote: ↑Thu 19 Sep 2024 11:20am Can't see him leaving GWS. He is Josh Kelly's replacement.
