Now I don't mind him or Lewis Young. He could fill Battles shoes.

Re: Matthew Kennedy
I think Kennedy could quite easily fit in to the Saints midfield. I’ve always thought that they played him out of position in the last 2 years, the same way that the Saints played Blake Acres.
Kennedy was part of Carlton’s midfield mix in 2022. Acres was still at Freo. I think Acres, Cerra, Williams and Hollands squeezed Kennedy out of that midfield the last 2 years. He’s either played as the sub or as a forward most of the time.
Compare Acres in 2022 versus Kennedy 2022

His draft profile said he was an ‘inside mid’

Re: Matthew Kennedy
Just a solid player, we have a few of those already.
Carlton friends rank Young only just behind Pitonett as worst player they had so pass.

Re: Matthew Kennedy
I'd prefer Matt Kennedy on our list for the next 5 years rather than bringing in Jack Mcrae for 3 years
I just think Kennedy is hungry to improve and have success, where as Mcrae seems content. He's won a flag and he's managed to capitalise on his All Australian form with a massive pay day. We're just somewhere for him to play out his career

I think Kennedy would be better than Seb Ross.

Re: Matthew Kennedy
Why not take Young and Owies as well as Kennedy?
With Dow and Kennedy in our midfield we’re sure to play finals next year.
Let’s return to the 80’s and the second coming of the Saints being the Carlton 2nds.

Whatever we do with potential trades, I just hope it doesn't involve trading 1st or 2nd round picks

Clearly, Carlton are trying to free up cap space. They must have a chunky fish they have on mind

Re: Matthew Kennedy
It's interesting to watch potential contenders like Carlton, Hawthorn, Port, Melbourne, GWS go through implosion episodes.
Carlton shredding players
Hawthorn exposed as mentally fragile,
Port torturing their excellent coach to career death, Melbourne loosing any semblance of discipline, GWS choking; wasted a golden age of talent and players now bolting. Lions are flirting with wasting several premiership opportunities. Can only hope none get their acts together next year, although Lions will
remain immensely talented.

Re: Matthew Kennedy
Kennedy has not been delisted. It was reported that he was told that if he wants more midfield minutes that he was open to test the market.

Re: Matthew Kennedy
To be honest… if I went after anyone, it would be Cerra.
His stocks seem as low as they’ll ever get so it’s a reasonable time IMO.

Matthew Kennedy is a GOP
not anywhere near as good as Seb Ross
Definitely not as good as Triple AA mid

Re: Matthew Kennedy
Do we really want more C & D grade midfield depth?
Please no to Kennedy and McCrae only if we give up 2/5th of FA to get him.

Re: Matthew Kennedy
We need elite talent, that is what we lack not good average players who can do a job, we have them in spades.
However, the odds of getting elite talent in the second or third round of the draft is very slim.
It is still though better than the odds of turning a Kennedy into elite talent or somehow turning the clock back on Macrae to when he was elite.
Go to the draft and cross our fingers that is our best chance of progressing.

Re: Matthew Kennedy
I like McRae but ya gotta stop calling him a AA player.
He WAS a AA. He hasn't had anything near a AA season in 3 years.
Still an asset but not a AA anymore, not even close.

Re: Matthew Kennedy
So he wasn’t a triple AA
I think you’ll find Luke Beveridge’s ridiculous coaching has more to do with his drop in output
Beveridge is the reason why WB have the second best list and finished 7th
His coaching record with an elite list is horrible
