God that’s a load of s***

Extremely resilient to deal with the injuries he has and still be as diligent as he is

Never got more the 8 possessions

He got 17 and 2 goals in r1 this season FFS

He also had 18 in a game

He also has
2 x 6 goal games
3 x 5 goal games
6 x 4 goal games

Has everyone forgotten that?!

Who are we talking about?

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Spare me, that’d be the weakest forward line in it
Your obsession with measurements clouds your judgement too much.

You’ve been trying to downplay Sharman all year even tho the kid has shown he can play.

What use is a giant power forward if you can’t win enough ball to get it down to him effectively?

A gun midfield is more crucial than a gun forward line.

Facts are over the last 2 seasons (RTB) we’ve scored more and won more when King isn’t playing. He’s not the be-all-end-all.

Did we win more because King didn’t play?

We won more with King out, not becaue he didn't play.

Sharman still has an issue with consistency, puts in a good game about every 15 and we all get sucked in and think he's the answer to our forward line. Dropped away after the Essendon game, had a shocker against the Blues.

We find out in 2025 how King and Sharman can work together, hopefully King stays injury free long enough for them to create some synergy.

More like we didn't win more because King did play.

You can win a premiership without elite big forwards (Bulldogs, Collingwood, Melbourne), you can't win a premiership without an elite midfield.

King's talents aren't maximised in the Lyon system, only the likes of Riewoldt and Pavlich have thrived, mids are much more valuable.

You can also win a premiership with big key forwards

Hawthorn, West Coast, Geelong, Richmond, Sydney

That’s 9
Of the last 13

Are you trying to say 9 of the last 13 flags were won because of key forwards and their impact?

That's not true.

Hawkins and Cameron were very good in 2022 but Geelong would have won it without them.

Jack Roo was brilliant in 2017 but again Richmond would have beaten Adelaide without him. 2019 same. They beat GWS by 89 points.

Gunston had a day out in 2015, but again...Hawthorn could have won it without him.

So 9 out of 13 had gun key forwards.

And 13 out of 13 had elite midfields.

Seems pretty obvious.

I’d say they were all pretty much elite teams!

Considering they were premiership teams

I greatly appreciate what GT did for the club, however he's in danger of ruining his legacy. He is in danger of becoming our version of Bruce Ruxton, or Neil Harvey.

They were both "dial a quote" types. Both old, irrelevant, grumpy and willing to make a comment on anything, whether it was their area of expertise or not. Both men ended up being viewed as a joke and objects of ridicule.

I do know that Andrew Bassat seeks GT's counsel at times. I believe GT should dig into his own burgeoning pockets and assist the club in that way.

Maybe he already does. If so, I apologize. Please keep quiet and keep donating, please. I'm sure he and AB already make substantial financial contributions. Keep that bit up, please.

He was not interested in any other club

He went into the media for a while but was forced out because he spoke his mind and wasn’t an AFL apologist

The he made a couple a 100M in business

Pretty successful knob

Multiple goals in 6 of his last 8 games sounds pretty consistent to me. That's the longest stretch he's had playing as a permanent forward too. Tough to build consistency when you're being moved to defence/wing or starting as sub.

D.B.Cooper wrote: Fri 23 Aug 2024 6:26pm GT has always been clickbait since he left the Saints.

For years the media rang dial a quote GT to comment on the Saints.

Over the years due to his comments, he has lost the trust and faith of players who played under him who loved him at that time and post his departure. (Direct comment from a player coached by GT).

GT makes comments to be controversial IMO, not that he genuinely believes them.

How do you build a club culture when you trade out senior players at the end of their careers?
How did trading Mitchell, Hodge, Lewis etc... work out for Hawthorn?

I don't rate GT at all, correctly or incorrectly, I believe a professional coach in 2004 & 2005 would have built a legacy.
The 2004 list was the best that has ever been assembled at the Saints and were beautifully balanced with established senior AA stars, champion veterans, young AA guns and future young champions on the rise.

There was a place for GT at the club, but it wasn't as a tactical coach or heading up training services.
The whole mana manager story is also over hyped IMO.

So too is the myth GT got us to two prelims with a bunch of 19/20 YO as our core

The situation certainly wasn't helped by an administration that was out of control and a president doing drugs in front of key corporate sponsors and carrying on like a party boy.

Opportunity lost!

Gun veterans (+30)
Peckett
Thompson
Harvey (AA 2003)

AA & stars at their peak (23 - 29)
Hamill
Jones (AA 2004)
Hayes (AA 2003, 2005)
Milne
Gehrig (AA 2004)

Young stars on the rise (some already or future AA)
Reiwoldt (AA 2004)
Ball (AA 2005)
Dal Santo (AA 2005)
Kossie
Clarke (X)
Maguire

Young players yet to fully break
Goddard
Montagna
Gram
Fisher (Sam)
Clarke (R)

Hard nuts
Baker
Powell
Guerra

Solid players
Penny
Voss
Schwarze
Callaghan
Black
Blake

The only thing we lacked was a genuine gun ruckman
Spot on mate and may I add got the job on an inside job where they feigned a process and there wasn’t one as he was controlling the President. He was better served managing the football department and bringing in a full time coach but his narcissistic ego couldn’t help himself.
Place on top of that those expensive junket trips to London and South Africa when every dollar counted instead of investing in our under resourced and under funded medical department and guess who had the most injuries in 2005 that cost us dearly?!!!
Add his influence in exiting Tasmania costing us millions and a generation of Tasmania supporters one of the most reckless and stupid decisions ever made in modern AFL times and to top it off he sues the club for unpaid leave and makes out he bleeds red white and black as he smashes the club in the media to stay relevant.
The media go to him for a head line as he can’t help himself then he wanders why he isn’t embraced at the club he is a piece of work!!

Did we have any key injuries in 2005

2004 we were a kick away from a gf against eventual premiers who finished atop the ladder for the previous 3 seasons
